My Bio

I’m Elaine, illustrator of dark fantasy and doomed love. I’m known for working in a chiaroscuro style, and I’m drawn to highly emotive art in dramatic light and shadow.

I graduated with a degree in Psychology and nearly sent off my application to law school. The whole process filled me with unhappiness that I couldn’t explain at the time, and I took a year off to find out what I really wanted to do. I discovered art.

I worked as a concept artist for Universal Studios theme parks, Warner Bros. Abu Dhabi, Disney VR, and various other virtual reality experiences (Mission: ISS, Blade Runner 2049).

After a few years of working on other people’s stories, I wanted to tell my own.

My work has been featured in Spectrum 24, Infected by Art 7 & 8, Deviantart and Tumblr. I won the 1st Place Artist Choice Award at Dragoncon 2019.

Your art is simply amazing...

I adore your art. The way you play with light and its absence is incredible. Your works are so delicate and emotive. Wonderful gallery!

hei! love your art and your story is really inspiring! going through something similar, graduated two years ago in sociology and suddenly I feel I have no direction except from my passion for art. How long did it take you to figure things out? Have a safe quarantine :)

Hey, thanks for your question! It took me quite a while - after I graduated, I worked in customer service for about 2 years before it clicked for me. After that, it took me another year while I prepped my portfolio for art school. Stayed in there for 3 years, left when I got a job as a concept artist.

The journey is slow, and I started much later than most people, but eventually you'll get there with mileage and practice. Good luck to you on your journey!

Amazing, you really stuck at it!! I'm just starting out but I love hearing about people's experiences and achievements, thank you for sharing 🖤
