My friend zagiir is holding a contest. She's a super good artist (like, what I aspire to one day become), and she's helped me a lot in my own art, giving a couple tips and overall just really giving me the motivation to keep working on my art and not be disappointed in the results. Seriously, she's awesome, and the simple fact that she's holding a contest and thus literally giving out free art definitely attests to that.

Alright so, this is going to be a raffle sort of event, as I would never be able to pick winners like in a contest! I love all of your guy's art so much, there would be no way ;o;
There will be ways to get more tickets for yourself to increase your chances of winning something!

Hey guys! First of all thanks for staying with me here even though I've been so inactive and all, haha. And thanks to my new watchers--I think I forgot to thank one of you; I'm really really sorry about that.

My Tablet Woes
So, you might have noticed that I haven't posted any art in a while. Why, you ask? Well, long story short, my pen on my tablet stopped working and rather than just buy a new pen, I felt like going ahead and upgrading my tablet. So I did actually purchase a Wacom Intuos Medium last week on Ebay. Then just yesterday I get an email telling me that oops, they didn't mean to post the listing again, actually they don't have the tablet anymore so they will refund me my money. Um, thanks??
So that started another tablet hunt. After buying the Wacom (before I was told that the purchase was voided), I had some serious concerns about forking over all that money for a tablet that, to me, got somewhat so-so reviews (like, no one likes that pen, let's face it). So I started looking at other Wacoms, but there weren't any in my price range which were any better. It took a while before I suddenly thought, what am I doing? I've become so swayed by the prestige of a brand name that I'm sacrificing tablet quality for it. I'm sorry, lifelong Wacom owners, but before this I had an excellent Huion 680s that worked just fine (just didn't feel like top-of-the-range, because it was only $30, but, um, that's probably exactly what the Wacom Intuos Art Medium feels like). And I wanted an upgrade from that. Which would really mean that I wanted a Wacom Intuos Pro-level tablet, or just under that. So, $300 minimum? Er, no. Huion worked well for me in the past--it'll work again.
So, off to research Huion's tablets. The 680s I had before wasn't even on their site so I'm assuming that's old, but anyway I wanted something new. So I looked and looked and I decided I liked the Huion Inspiroy H950P. It's got... everything. Eight express keys, a ridiculously high level of pen pressure sensitivity, and even tilt capability--what Wacom tablet has that?? Only the $300 pro, I believe. And again, I don't have $300. Okay, maybe I do, but I hate to spend all my money. It's also boasts a 8.7×5.4 inch active area, and a pen that doesn't need batteries or recharging. And it looks nice and sleek and pretty. I also watched this video, and it further sold me:

And the best part? You get all this for $73, with Amazon's 10% discount. Now give me a Wacom tablet that can compare with THAT.

Okay, so enough of that, it's been ordered, arriving next week. Moving on to my new ideas for my art.

My Art Ideas
I've been feeling like my art is not flexible enough because I really want to experiment with more realistic textures, etc. And I've felt unable to do that because I can't find any brushes I love.
Then I realized that I used to have that... on Krita. Which I actually downloaded on my new computer and never used. I'm not going to pretend Krita doesn't have its issues--it's fairly laggy for me when my file sizes get large. I mean, I did buy Photoshop because of that. BUT. Krita has the ability to open and save files as .psd documents! They're compatible! Why did I abandon Krita and it's beautiful brushes for good? Switching between both programs has definitely become an option for me. I can't wait to experiment with it! Ugh this long without digital art is killing me.
I'm also going to try to experiment a little more with backgrounds, using Krita brushes. It's possible I'll just use Krita for backgrounds. I love that program, I just outgrew it a little, haha.

By the way.. I do still draw other stuff; just made a nice watercolor dragon a couple nights ago. But I often don't post things that I draw for my friends because I want to respect their privacy--hope you don't mind that. I should really ask them, but I've a feeling they might say okay to be nice and I don't want that.

Well, that's my life all nicely summed up. My online classes end this week (I should be working on them), and then my grandmother comes to stay for a couple months so I'm looking forward to that immensely. Get someone I can talk to and be with for a change rather than my parents or my sister and her boyfriend (I feel like everyone is grouped into pairs in my family now, so I'm a bit of an outcast. It's been super stressful for me but I go through good and bad patches with it. I'm fine now.)
