Reminds me of cob webs, 'tis pretty spiffy :aww:

Thank you for the comment. I haven't heard the word "spiffy" in ages! Cool! Thanks for the :+fav: too. :-)

Spiffy is an awesomely stellar word :w00t: :giggle: Especially when you turn it into some other random word like "Spiftacular" or "Spifalicious" :D NEways :giggle: You're welcome :aww:

Spiftacular! Spialicious!

I was IMing with a friend last night and showed her *pigfly*, she loved it. Would it be OK for her to use in her Messenger. She is waiting for your permission, won't use it without it.

What I want to know is how can it be used on DA? I see ones that are not on the DA list all the time, but can't figure out how they are used.
Zappe's avatar
You mean in an instant messenger?? I guess she can use it, just tell people where she got it if they ask :)

You can't use an emoticon unless it's on the list. You can put thumbs in your journal, but they're not for comments and stuff.

Thanks, I'll let her know. Girl's so quick, she just grabbed it before I could tell her I was just showing it to her. lol ( Instant Love!) She realized right away that she needed permission so I told her to wait up. I'll send her a note with your Ok and Nik to reference. She's one of us so knows how important OKs are. It would be neat if my copy/paste move picked up a link to your page! You might get all kinds of new fans!

cool flame. i like the line of radiating spirals, and the gradient.

a suggestion to diminish the specklys... render to transparent png, pile up a few more layers than usual, then on the botom 4 or 5 layers, do progressive guassian blurs. like 1.00 first layer, .75 next layer up, .50 next up, .25 next layer up. thats what i do in psp. it smooths out the pic and helps make the specks blend away.

I'll try that Blue. Speckles drive me bats. Usually try blending them out with a soft brush, which makes me cross-eyed by the time I'm done! Sometimes the render blends them but not always.

:jawdrop: This is simply stunning. I love the color tone to begin with, but the shapes remind of me of delicate shells. Gorgeous!

Thanks
It's an oldie I'd forgotten about!

cool! render at higher quality?
ArtistInWaiting's avatar
This my sound like a dumb question but...do you mean large size or quality settings on my render. my render settings are 2500, 2 filter, 1 over-whaterver. Since I don't do anything higher that 800x600 these usually work out. I use Mark's HQI (Export). Lately have reset quality to 4500. I am short on memory, and only have a pent3, and that's not all of my limitations.

Got any suggestions? Would like to do better flames.

quality settings on your render

this is a very good flame, and 4500 should normally be enough, I have to admit that I really dont know what influence your computer has on your flames (only that is has influence;)), I have normally a oversample of 3, and a filter-radius of 0.5, but you can choose whatever you prefer...

i am always looking for suggestions myself (and i don't get them very often) but spiral batch (2)/spiralize, and the variations linear, handkerchief and julia checked by options might have some nice effects... :)

i am working on a script, and when its finished you can try it out, maybe it has the effect you are searching for... :D
ArtistInWaiting's avatar
Your renders must take a while to run, an oversample of 3 is pretty high. (Or so I read somewhere) With only 128 memory, and usually only about 30 meg available, settings that high would take hours to render!

I've never used hankerchief, I think I'll try it. Thanks for the suggestions.

no, 30 min tops
ArtistInWaiting's avatar
Wow, you must have a Pent IV(?) Pent III, a little slower but was on sale. I had melted my old motherboard!
mollywemel's avatar
the script is available
ArtistInWaiting's avatar
Molly, I don't recognize the file type. RAR document. Is this some sort of compression file? I downloaded it but don't know how to open it. Does Winzip recognize this file? Script files are *.asc. :-?

idd, pentium 4 (says the little sticker on my pc... =P) Melted your motherboard??!!!
ArtistInWaiting's avatar
Ah, there's part of why your flames go faster...if I remember correctly Pentium III was sort of an experiment, they put the zoooom in IV! :-)

Yup, I melted the poor thing, it tried so hard to do what I wanted that it's curcuits fused. Or something like that...the technoguy said I needed more power to run the programs I was using. I could have gotten a new motherboard but would have continued to have meltdown. In other words, it was so old and slow it took too long to crunch the numbers and over heated. Ergo, motherboard melted!
