Roadmap by artisticTaurean Roadmap by artisticTaurean
For Digital Art. We had to construct a personal map, so I took a screenshot of the route my family takes from our apartment in Brooklyn to our house in Pennsylvania. I had the WORST trouble with that map! At first it looked like a regular map you'd see on Google Maps, then I switched it to the terrain map, then I played around with every filter I could think of...

... and THEN I realized that the reason it wasn't looking right was because it was way too detailed and realistic against the "sketched" surroundings, so I just gave every visible state its own bold color. Like it much better now. I wanted it to look like I'd drawn everything around myself, but wanted the map to stand out.

Done by having a friend take a picture of me reaching with a marker in front of a blackboard and manipulating the photo. (I had to move the blackboard over to center it.) The photo of ME isn't all that great--I was supposed to use a much better camera, but it wasn't available, so I had to make due with my point-and-shoot.
