Do not use in any way without my written permission and please don't remove the watermarks!

Secrets, dark and sick, weighing heavily on my mind
Hidden deep in my soul, separating me from your kind
Alone with my addiction, I feel powerless and lost
Masking my carnal obsession, exhausted, I try to blend in
Empty and despaired, caught in the frenzy – I know I can never win

Ughh, this took me a really long time to finish - and I think I might have lost some dioptres in the process -, but it's finally done. Michael Fassbender as Brandon from the movie "Shame" by Steve McQueen, done in pointillism. And even though it was a fun experience to put an estimated ten million dots on paper, I will not repeat it for a while. I'm about 85% happy with the outcome; there are some mistakes and I'm not entirely satisfied with that dark eye, but I'm actually pretty proud of the fact that I finished it.

Time: If I knew! The time was spread out over two weeks so I guess at least 12 hours.
Size: 13.4 x 9.5 cm (the scan is the same size as the original)
Materials:
:bulletblack: Paper card I found in the attic
:bulletblack: HB mechanical pencil (0.5mm) for the underlying sketch
:bulletblack: 0.1 and 0.3 pigment liner from Staedtler, 0.7 drawliner from edding 1880
Reference picture: Screen shot from the movie

Thanks for having a look. Comments are welcome as always :-).

Great depiction of, quite frankly, shame.

And some serious brownie points for sticking to pointillism. Wowza.

This is amazing! I'm a great fan of pointillism but I know that I personally don't have the patience for it... I admire those that can and do Truly great job on this piece :D

Thanks a lot for having a look and taking the time to comment. Yeah, I'm glad I used a small piece of paper to do this, I'd probably never have finished it on a bigger scale.

Yeah I know the feeling... I've got several that are started on large pieces of paper and I may never get them finished :-(

Thanks :-). Yeah, pointillism is very time-consuming, but somehow you don't feel time passing while you're at it...

Thanks for taking a look, Paula :D. And yeah, it was fun to do even if, at times, I cursed myself for having chosen this technique ... :-)

The dark eye its not that good, the nose is too large on the bottom, the head is too large and should be a little bit longer as well and I think that Michael has thinner lips.
I actually feel like shit as I'm writing this since I can't even draw stick people right but you asked for critiques so :/
Besides that its an amazing work, and you are really patient and really like what you do, I tried pointillism in 7th grade with an image from Hellboy as reference and after 10 minutes later I had done enough pointillism for a life time.

And yet again, you amaze me! One would think it'd be impossible by now, but apparantly not ...

Having done a piece in dots once, I know the work behind this piece. And you managed to do something I failed with; you captured tiny changes between different grey tones. The shades are amazing (and shut up about the dark eye; mentioning it only makes people scrutinize it more, if you hadn't said anything I wouldn't even have seen it) and I'm more than amazed that you've actually done a BACKGROUND for it.

I have one question, though: What is "dioptres"? I COULD google it, yes, but it's more fun to just ask. :)

This looks gorgeous, and I suppose I'm going to have to watch that movie soon, the way people keep talking about it.

A dioptre is the unit of measurement of the optical power of the eye lense. What I intended to say was that now I probably need glasses :p. Anyway, thank you for your comment. I actually looked at your Winchesters in dots piece several times while working on this one. You did a pretty amazing job there, you know. You managed to get more light areas, whereas I f***ed them up on the face (yes, I was so stupid as to start with them, but I've learned my lesson - in case I should EVER feel the urge to do this again).

And yes yes YES YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY WATCH THAT MOVIE AND REPORT BACK TO ME! I wanna be able to talk with you about that movie and about Fassy! By now I'm sure you will love it. And I'm sure you'll start appreciating him as well. You just can't NOT appreciate him in that movie; he's one of the best method actors I have ever seen, and you just feel for him so much. Plus, the soundtrack is awesome. :-)
