Derek Hale, played by Tyler Hoechlin, from the tv show 'Teen Wolf' (reference pic). Another piece I did in art therapy as a part of my internship at a psychiatric hospital. It was fun to do, and even though there are some mistakes in likeness I still quite like it. But I think now I'm done drawing TW related stuff.

The drawing's about DIN A3 size and done with regular pencils ranging in hardness from B to 6B. I cut out the original because I was too lazy to draw any kind of background. That's why the scan sometimes has a dark contour. And due to its size, I had to scan it in parts and photoshop them together, so it doesn't fit perfectly in some areas.

Comments are welcome.

This is a very realistic drawing, but I found myself saying it looks similar to Derek rather than immediately knowing it was him. There are little things that you can improve on the picture, and I know portraits are never perfect, to make it look more like him. One thing, I found the cheek bones to be overly sunken in. When looking at the reference picture - you did the cheek bone perfectly on the right side, but the left side is more full in the reference picture than yours. As well, I found the eyes to be closure together than Derek's and the forehead a little too large. Besides these little details your shading is absolutely perfect, and the little things, like the slight button sticking out of his collar, are my favorite parts. Great drawing, I could never draw something as realistic as this.

FRANZILLA, you drew DEREK! <3 And did a good job on him, too! It looks more rough than your ordinary style, but it totally works on this character. Suits him, even. And you KNOW I'm a sucker for contrasts ... so of course I love this image.

What did you do with it once you'd cut it out, though? Did you glue it onto something, or ...?

Thanks for your nice comment. It's rougher mostly because I printed out the reference picture really tiny, like 9x13cm, and drew it on A3 paper, so I couldn't transfer all the details there probably were. Plus, I really just needed to do SOMETHING in art therapy, so I didn't put as much effort into it as I do with other drawings. But still, happy to hear you like it.

Haha, no, I just cut him out and that's it. I would have uploaded it with a transparent background - since there is none :P - but somehow I can't save files that way with my version of PS...

Well, it suits him, so don't tell people it wasn't intentional! :D

And art theraphy, huh? Sounds like a good thing. :)

It IS a good thing, and most patients really appreciate it. I had to step in for the therapist a few times (like when she was on vacation or sick) and it was a lot of fun, but it's totally different from the psychological therapy ... you know, like group therapy and individual therapy, because it's a lot more non-verbal. Thus the focus is much more on the patient's mental images that are (consciously or unconsciously) associated with crisis situations or traumatic events, which, in turn, can trigger mental disorders like personality disorders. It's really quite fascinating, especially seeing what drawing, painting, sculpting etc. triggers in different patients.

... you know I'm probably going to think about this the next time I'm painting or drawing something, right? And I probably won't like what it'll say about me. :p

I had thought that that would happen to me as well, but it didn't. The art therapist told me that art therapy works better if the patient can't draw well, so you're absolutely in the clear. And btw, I can't "read" drawings for that stuff, so don't worry ;-).
