My Bio

Greetings and thank you for visiting!

My name is Jue Li, but feel free to just call me 'Li.'  I love to create art inspired by my favorite things and some worlds I've been building over the years.

In recent years, I've become a full time freelancer and part-time streamer (art and gaming) and absolutely loving the journey.  Starting in 2023, I will be featuring a great deal of my projects that I've been working on behind the scenes including personal print series, cards, and other exciting projects.

Stay tuned!

Ah, so happy to hear it, and thank you so much, my friend. Absolutely, I can see her as a remix of Scorpion, Zatanna, and Catwoman vibes for sure! And oh yes, this pair of siblings, Alarice and Demitri, can definitely be considered one of the first 'dominos/catalysts' to really trigger some crazy chain of events in the story haha. I feel like given that they had even the most time to gestate as the 'last' characters to be introduced for now, they had even more time to develop in the background :)

And as for Timaeus, haha, oooh absolutely. He will definitely still be making an appearance here soon. I'll actually be wrapping up my Aethercore posts for now with his upcoming post; but as you know, I can't wait to return to this world down the road to revisit as a more expanded project in its full glory. I really hope you enjoyed the ride, and I honestly can't tell you how much it meant that you were here as such a big part of it! You were such an MVP of support, I can't even, lol.

But yea man, til then, I'm happy to say I got a whole lotta new stuff cookin', full of variety and good fun! So excited to share it homie. 🙏🤘✨🖌️🔥

Alarice, the Flamme Fatale

Hey hey, Dave, hope you're well! So glad to hear that you enjoyed the video and found it inspiring, my friend. Yea, I honestly couldn't really believe there was like, literally zero videos out there highlighting the awesome aspects of this particular format for artists. I felt absolutely compelled to make a video on it, despite needing some much needed time off after the doozy of the Aethercore project, lol.

Also, in regards to the last deck, Shadowlight, I definitely plan to relaunch it some time down the road. It incorporated my larger print series of the most classic/famous angels and demons of sin, (which can be viewed in my gallery here) and was a riveting project to work on!

I deeply appreciate your kind words and support as always, Dave. And I most definitely plan to keep it up ;) Thank you so much, my homie!!

Why Playing Cards Is My Favorite Art Format

This turned out so wonderfully, Dave, and absolutely worthy of the fandom in multiple regards.

First off, you took us on an actual, mid-swing action scene, which is truly one heck of a task for any full-scene illustration, just to deliver to us that dynamic pose and immersive composition that makes any iconic Spidey scene so great.

Secondly, the next thing to notice is how well the anatomy and perspective was actually pulled off. I love how you took that 'risk' of really pushing his left leg back, and his right thigh forward, giving us a nice defined view of the quads, and the even more (appropriately) up close hand shooting the web. His right hand's 'claw like' gesture is also very iconic, dynamic and thematically appropriate.

Furthermore, the way you so strongly adhere to the formation and curvature of Spidey's muscles and body's perspective throughout all your 'web suit lines' is absolutely remarkeable. This could easily be said to be one of the most difficult aspects of Spiderman to draw, and so many try to 'short cut' it and start 'texturing' in the web pattern with little or no adherence to the form underneath. The fact that you knew to do this, and did it well, is just so impressive and delightful to see.

And of course, the background itself, which has incredibly well-implemented perspective, down to the last brick being in 'alignment' with the whole scene. The way all the windows/straight edges of the buildings 'point' to Spidey, by adhering to proper perspective, is a masterful technique usually utilized by seasoned/professional artists, and you've absolutely demonstrated such a technique beautifully. And last but certainly not least, I notice you literally gave the window cells actual depth, with additional framing/thickness to really sell the immersion/believability of this scene. Truly remarkeable work.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful, epic art with us, Dave. You should be very proud of this piece. I think you've delighted Spidey fans everywhere, including myself, with this exemplary illustration! 🤘🙏🔥🖌️✨

Spider-Man

Thank you so much, I appreciate that! ^^

Ariel, the Lioness

Daave! Yo yo, bud, so great to hear you enjoy his design! Haha, yuuus, I love your references, and while I definitely had Zangief pop up in my head, I never considered a 'Wario' nod which I can totally see! Also Colossus is a total badass (my fav to play back in the old xmen arcade game) so heck ya, lol!

Absolutely, I think variety/uniqueness is so crucial in a cast of characters like this. Legibility, visuals coherent that can suggest or tell what a character does at a glance, can be sooo important, especially for real time games. I'm so happy to hear Demitri, amongst the others you find to be differentiated from each other, have accomplished this!

And ohh my dude, I absolutely hear you on the 'experiment gone wrong' idea. I think it's a very fun archetype, and definitely one I've had brewing in the back of my mind. I think there is a high probability that such a character may be looming on the horizon, haha. Love me some Rocket Raccoon and Cy-Gor was a fun take on experiment gone wrong! A part of me has even wondered if Overwatch's Winston had any inspiration from Cy-gor, just not as psycho, lol.

But yea man, I'm definitely with you on traversing into possibly even crazier territories, especially once the 'base' (dozen?) roster of characters have been established for my debut project/first 'official' introduction of AC to the world.

As always, I truly express how grateful I am for your wonderful comments, sir. Thank you so much as always for your epic sweet reviews and support!!
