Pixel gemstones - Amber by Arrelline Pixel gemstones - Amber by Arrelline
I wanted to test my poor skills in pixel art ;) (Wink)

But acutally I needed gemstones for my Multifarious Zodiac journal and decided to draw them by myself.

Pixel gemstones - Amber Amber is stone of Leo (and I suppose, everybody who like it, just like me ;)).
To me it symbolized the warmth of sun.

If you like it, you can download, just don't claim as yourself, because it took me a lot of time and effort to draw :) (Smile).
And if you download,  please let me know how you are going to use it, I'm curious ;).

I love this little amber piece! The lighting here is very nice, too! Also, it's rather strange how amber is said to be a gemstone, even though it's actually hardened tree resin that has technically been fossilized. But well, I guess it can be counted as a gemstone after all, even though it's not a real crystal. I have a family heirloom coming from my great-grandmother... it's an amber amulet. I like the look of amber itself in real life, too. :D

I suppose it's called "gemstone" because it's beautiful and suitable for setting in jewellery. The most of people don't go as far as researching what it is in real ;).
As to me, I of course know that amber is really fossilized tree resin of ancient trees (mostly coniferous, especially Baltic amber), and formed about 60 millions years ago (how long ago it was!.. there were dinosaurs wandering on the Earth at these times...).

It's good to have family heirloom. If I may ask what colour it is (there are many shades of amber, from almost white, through orange, yellow and brown,  to almost black). And I'm very curious about everything related to the colours.

Hmm, I suppose you're right. After all, I have an amber amulet, too. So amber is widely used in jewellery as a "gemstone", indeed. :XD:
That's right. Amber really is ancient and the oldest ambers come from the age of the dinosaurs. That's how most of the giant insects and other odd creatures got stuck in amber, too. It's fascinating, really.

But of course! It's a fine-cut polished hunk of amber, and it's mostly dark brown. It has black strikes through it, and the more transparent areas are orange-ish. I may provide you a picture when I can find the amulet sometime, actually.

It would be great if you made a picture of your amulet.
I collect pictures of gemstones and minerals on my computer (for example "Aquamarine" folder has 39 pictures, "Carnelian and Sardonyx" about 50), so I'd be glad to add picture of your amulet into my collection :).

P.S. I also collect pictures of jewellery, mainly because I like beautiful things, but also to use them as references for jewellery in my own pictures.

All right! Then I will take some time to take a picture of the amulet... when I'm not as busy as now, that is. Anyway, I'd be glad to expand your collection, too, so I will definitely give you a picture of the amulet sometime. Mother said that there's another necklace that is an heirloom, as well, and it has amber shards on it. If we can find that necklace along with the amulet, I may get you a picture of them both. But my first priority right now is to find that amulet. :)

I think a collection of jewellery pictures is very useful. That's a good one you got there! :D

Do you not like amber? To me it's beautiful.

In addition it's not the only stone of Leo, if you meant that. It is along with yellow topaz, ruby, rock crystal, chrysolite, jasper, carnelian and smoky quartz.

Besides, almost every horoscope has its own list of sign stones, in my journal I tried to collect the most frequently mentioned ones.

And what is stone of Leo in your list?

I believe it depends more of personal taste anyway. If you don't like amber, you won't wear it, however strongly it would be recommended as your sign's stone.

As to me, the most of horoscopes give amethyst and pearl as stones of Pisces. I don't like violet colour much, so I prefer pearls (along with aquamarine and moonstone, what are also beautiful).
