The House of Horror
Chapter Seven Secret revealed
It was busy in the kitchen as my mom started rushing around to prepare some breakfast for her, myself and Ashley, as I sat down and turned to her and then turned my head towards my mom, “are you going to tell her Mark?” Came Ashley’s reply as she sat watching as my mom pulled out a large piece of burnt toast from out of a toaster, I turned to her my head bowed out of embarrassment, “what’s the point Ashley, she won’t believe me?” Hearing this Ashley put one of her hands onto my lap, I looked up at her and I could tell that she could sense my fear, “you are going to have to tell her Mark as she is just as much in danger as you are in this house,” hearing this my mom turned her head around and looked at us both, “is there anything wrong Mark I heard you’re friend saying something about this house?” “Mom,” I said as I turned my head around and looked at her, my voice was shaking nervously as I talked, “I’ve got something to tell you which might put you off the house?”
She walked over slowly and pulled a chair to the table, “what is it Mark? What do you want to tell me?” For a moment I was about to say something then I my mouth went dry and I couldn’t say anything to her, “what Mark wanted to say to you was that there is something evil inside this house something that wants to cause you and your son harm.” Ashley spoke up in a loud and confident voice, at first my mom didn’t say anything then for a moment out of the blue she started laughing, “what do you mean my dear?” She asked in a warm friendly voice, “like a ghost or something?” Ashley looked at her as if she had just fallen from another planet, “worse and this is no laughing matter as Mark was nearly taken over by this thing,” for a moment my mom just looked at Ashley eyeing her as she did, then she let out a scream, “you mean like a demon?”
Ashley then looked at her and gave her a nod, “no I don’ think that it’s a demon more like a shadow person?” “What, what is that when is about?” My mom asked her voice was calm now, “I think that it was brought here purposely by the witch that used to live here?” Ashley said her voice was icy cold as she spoke, My mom gave her an odd look and then turned to me, “look Mark,” she said in a warm and caring voice, “I know that this move hasn’t been easy for you but don’t you think that you are letting your imagination getting the better of you? I mean there are no such thing as ghosts or demons right?” Hearing her saying this I turned to Ashley and gave her a sad look, “see what did I tell you Ashley she doesn’t believe me,” I then turned back to my mom, “look mom you can stay here if you want but I am going I don’t feel safe in this house not with that thing.” Hearing me saying this my mom gave me an angry look, “don’t be stupid Mark where will you go?” I got up from the chair where I had been sitting and then made my way over to the door, before I went thought I looked back at her, “I am going to stay with Ashley and her family don’t worry I’ll come back as soon as you get rid of that thing.” Before she could stop me I ran out of the door my mind was fixed on getting away from that house, I didn’t really feel guilty leaving my mom alone there, perhaps now when I think about it now I was selfish? I just wanted to get myself out of there and be safe.
