I have enjoyed your art for many years.  Do you have a blog or site that explains your techniques?  What kind of paper or surface do you use?

You just can't tell this isn't a photo! It's exactly what the eyes would see...more detailed even...flawless. You're incredible. I hope it doesn't get annoying, but I have limited vocabulary to tell you how in awe I am of your work.

juicethehedgehog Featured By Owner Nov 30, 2009  Professional General Artist
lol oh, well dont think of it as old. say your 40 years of experience?

old just makes it sound obsolete, and that's definitely not the case here lol.

All the textures look so real - I'm especially impressed with the leather. The use of shadow is very well done and all the detail in the face is mind blowing!

This is my 4th time fully viewing this piece and i must say, The toning edge defining below the right (his left) eye is momentous. I have just now realized how much solidity that gives to this piece. Carry on.

Adding a biography of the characters you draw could help for some of us who know poor things about them!

Again you thrill me. The similies of his weathered skin next to the leathery jacket speak volumes, you can see the dept of his spirit in his eyes and you know that he has a million stories to tell, a million pains tucked away, a thousand scars that he hides, yet he has aged gracefully and kept himself "goodlooking" to the public eye. Only to someone that takes the time to draw the spirit out with such detail, could you ever know there was so much more. You have become my personal hero. Thank you for continuing to share your vision and gift.

And again you do it.. It's beautiful photograph xD Just kidding...
pyromaniac913 Featured By Owner Dec 16, 2004
That's pretty awesome man. I have a jacket that resembles his. It smells really strong of leather and kinda smells up my closet.

Looks like he would own a motorcycle.

Worthy of a place in a museum,
next to the greatest classics of the past.

And I am not kidding...

Holy crap man... seriously I swore this was a black and white photo until I read the description where you said PENCIL O_O I looked closer and I can still barely tell at all. You control over depth and shade is impecable. Truely amazing realism.
(sorry if this double posts, DA is kinda freaking out on me right now o_O)

Nice work. His hair looks really great, hair can be hard to do... I like the different textures on his clothes too, you can tell which fabrics they're supposed to be. Very nice indeed.

I don't think that I could do any better with my B&W camera. Beautiful work. Your detail still leaves me in awe.
daeira Featured By Owner Oct 16, 2003
Oy, the details.. the light in his eye.. the play between light and shadow.. I almost excpect him to pop his head out from my computer screen and stare at me till I break down and cry. It's that intense. His hair, and all the little dots and folds in his skin are perfect as well (which I suppose you know), but the eye. That eye. So creepy. So good.
theledtool Featured By Owner Jul 14, 2003
Unbelievable depth. And irregular eyes.
the-hurukai Featured By Owner May 8, 2003
This looks sooo real! it looked like a black & white photo when i saw the thumbnail; Increadible job!
rayzyn Featured By Owner Feb 14, 2003
Everytime i look at one of your drawings i think to my self, this is possibly one of the greatest drawings i have ever seen, he cant get better than this. Then i see your latest drawing and the same thought comes to mind. As well as so perfectly illustrating the texture of the clothes, skin and hair, you capture the character behind the face. Why arn't you famous? You ought to very very proud of your work. Keep it up my friend! =D (Big Grin)

Btw, some guy made a wise suggestion earlier, insure your hands! =p (Razz)

You are the most incredible graphite portrait artist who's work I've ever encountered! The detail is breath taking! It certainly gives me something to strive towards....not that I'll ever make it. But what inspiration! Thank you for sharing your work here!
