Tbh trying so hard to find an old comic based off harry potter from ya and its driving me nuts bc i cant find it ;w;
wouldn't it be healthier if you just told this to idk, a therapist and not some random lady making fetish art
I've already done that btw, I was just sharing my experience with how the art had an effect on me.
oookkkay then.
Respectfully. No one is required to police themselves online when the duty of restricting and controlling internet access is the duty of a parent. Full stop.
Arkham isn't a fault because you went on DeviantArt and saw NSFW Art. Your parents are at fault for not being better parents.
Sorry to hear about your abuse. But your issue here is your parents, who've you already admitted to being inadequate.
In an era of unprecedent global censorship and attempt to implement Digital I.D in the name of 'child safety'. Statements like these are irresponsible. So just stop it. Delete it and go away.
I grew up witnessing things on the internet that rotted my soul and desensitized me. (LiveLeak and Shock Sites were common back then) That isn't the fault of the internet though. That's the fault of my parents who we're naive to what I was being exposed too. To this day I still have issues stemming from seeing things I shouldn't have as a very young child on the internet. But that's on my parents hands. Not randoms on the internet who never even knew I specifically existed and watching whatever content I was consuming.
I wasn't trying to to blame Arkham for anything, I was just venting about my experience and how her art affected me. I didn't mean for it to sound like she's the one who caused my childhood trauma. Yes It was 100% on me and my dumb 13 year old brain for normalizing things that shouldn't be normalized.
But I do think that a very small bit of responsibility does fall on the artist to tag things properly so that this stuff isn't seen by the wrong people. Back then (2015-2016) Deviantart's filtering system was way different than it is now so this art would show up completely uncensored when looking up things like Hetalia for example.
I'm not saying censor the internet completely, or go completely wild and upload straight up porn where anyone and everyone can see it with no warning, But there needs to be a balance. Art containing sensitive themes should be tagged and filtered properly so that it doesn't show up in the feeds/recommended pages of the wrong people. And that goes for things like fetish art which may not appear to be NSFW at first glance and that's why a lot of it can slip through the cracks.
Yes I do agree with you that my parents should have done a better job but they were neglectful and shitty in their own right. But mostly it was on me for even looking at it in the first place but it was like a trainwreck I couldn't look away and was almost addicted to this kind of art and that what lead to the normalization and internalization of my abuse.
I'm really sorry if my words came out the wrong way, I mean no disrespect towards you or Arkham and I apologize for how aggressive and accusatory my last comment was. I was just venting about a negative experience I had with her art and that's 100% on me.
