Way too many times in life I was told something just wasn't for me. Even now doing comics, cosplaying, vending at conventions, I often get called a poser, and way too many other women do, as well.

That's why we need VSEPR.

VSEPR is a science super hero comic book written and drawn by actual women scientists, for everyone to enjoy.

The book is almost complete and we would like to get it printed and into the hands of fans! This isn't a comic about women in science, specifically, it's simply done by two real life scientists who wanted to do a comic about something they enjoyed, and make it relatable to everyone! That's the beauty of it, by not focusing on the issue, they are showing that women working in comics and scientific fields shouldn't be a big deal, it should be just as common as anything else. And the best part? It's already so far along in it's kickstarter that it's nearly a guarantee, despite it only being up a few days! This should tell everyone how important this comic is.

About this project

VSEPR is a superhero comic by Arrowsmith Studios where science is the superpower.

Lance is a scientist trying to make a name for himself in the renewable energy industry when he finds that there is some dirty competition. Lance finds he must fight with science to save his career. He is helped by Becky, the quirky brains of the operation, who supplies him with fancy gadgets and the newest science and technology.

As two artistically-inclined individuals in the field of science, we think STEAM is really important and wanted to combine art with science with superheroes in order to create a fun and family-friendly way to get excited and learn about science. Although this is only the first volume, we hope to get not only this volume printed with this Kickstarter, but also to eventually continue on to create more of this comic and/or science based art.

READ: Click to read the first half of the comic online.

This kickstarter will allow us to finish and print VSEPR volume 1. If we finish that goal ($700) we can give you even more cool science stuff.

You already know about the comic, but with a $25 dollar contribution, you not only get the comic, but also this sweet exclusive science T-shirt we designed for this kickstarter, that Becky wears in the comic. It says "Think like a proton: stay positive" with the VSEPR logo on the back. Comes in all sizes.

At $1000, we're going to put bonus material in the back of the final, 36-page comic book that all our backers of $5 and over will get, plus our gratitude for being so awesome.

At $1500, all backers who are getting a shipped product ($10 and up) will get some EXTRA special science buttons designed by the artist and the writer shipped with their reward, and even more gratitude for being awesome.

At $?????, we will have to think of something else to give you, but we promise it will be as awesome as we can manage.

Risks and challenges

In order to keep this comic going, we need readers and supporters, like you.
This Kickstarter will fund the printing costs for the first volume and shipping to send rewards to our backers, but we do need to maintain a readership to make VSEPR the educational and meaningful comic that we know it can be.
Arrowsmith Studios is a self-published, active participant at local comic conventions such as Amazing Arizona Comic Con and Phoenix Comic Con, and we try hard to release a weekly comic page update on at least one comic we are working on online to read for free. With your support we hope to continue to work hard to bring you amazing comics.

wow! no comments since the pandemic began in the states; hope everyone's alright. I live in the east valley of the Phoenix area, right off the Apache Trail, an area of desert mountains that keeps me sane. Recently I returned to the visual arts in terms of colored pencil and ink. I try to make sure that the subject is slightly off, askew enough that normal people gasp sometimes. This deviant art place is cool with this old man; guess I should join this AZ group - if anybody's still around. Adieu ~

Anyone else interested in crafts? I have been doing woodturning for maybe 4 years. I also just recently have begun to learn about ceramics.

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has experience with Krita?  Or knows a really good resource for learning it?  Youtube moves a little too fast for me to follow (skips steps in the processes) and I'm too computer-dumb for the actual user's manual. TT
Would be happy to return the favor if you can help me, if I know anything you'd like to learn. :)
