This took forever to render, but I got to play a lot of Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, so I am not unhappy. I had a lot of fun, I got to make plants and learned a new way to create vines, using curves.
I love fantasy illustration from the seventies and the eighties and recently fell in love wit the work of Lou Feck. I wanted to go with a vivid uniform colour palette and stark contrast, but I had to soften it up, because it didn't look right.
Iron Star made in Blender. Outfit made in MD2 and Blender.
Props, trees, vies, plants made in Blender. The “Gifthinder” had a rigged body at first, but it didn't bend as gracefully as the curves, so I ended up just rigging the head and made their body with curves. I wanted them to look like something in between plants and animals.
Scene rendered in Blender.
Postwork in Photoshop.
I was going to call this Venenum Obstaculum, Poison obstacle, but then I started to like how the Swedish word looked and sounded, so I went with that.
Fun fact: Gift means both ”Poison” and ”Married” in Swedish.
Extrasolar is created with a hero inside ourselves, 1995, jrmalone
