We left around 7am and spent the remaining 3 hours in front of a GameStop. We were first in line, first one to enter, and first one to leave.
They had 14 consoles in stock, with 3 controllers in stock; it was a very long... 3 hours, to say the least. We were all informed that they'd open up the doors at 9am (which wasn't true... doors opened at 10am, as per the usual).
As we waited, a driver passed us by and told us the Target next door had 50 in stock. The longer we waited, several did leave the line and decided to go to Target. Me and the second in line joked to each other that Target ran out, because it seemed like the people who left our line started coming back empty-handed.
Whether this is true or not, I don't care. I got mine. XD Second controller, too.
Thank you Nintendo for, y'know, not fucking this up... Just knowing that our Target had 50 in stock and not 5 like with the fucking NES classic is a step in the right direction.
Funny story: I never would've known the line to collect these things if I didn't make a late night visit to GameStop yesterday. I visited Target initially just to browse, and almost passed on going to GameStop because I was certain they were closed. I was wrong. I had 30 minutes.
So I go to GameStop and I overhear them talk about opening up at 9am, the SNES pre-orders, and the boss talking about the chances a guy might not show up. With this knowledge, I asked for confirmation and he said to be there at 9am sharp.
Well, I wound up there at 7am sharp... and as noted, first one in-- first one out.
