The term 'metalgaze' or 'blackgaze' is a recent one to appear in the world of music, and mostly revolves around artists taking the wall-of-sound guitar notes and fuzzy production of shoegaze and blending it with the harsh tremolo picking and dark vocal aesthetics of black metal. Černá is a band that falls closer to the post-rock or usual post-metal end of the spectrum, being as it does not feature any sort of vocals and tends towards the ethereal more than the saturnine. What's impressive about this particular artist is the fact that it's a one-man-band; solo projects tend to be amorphous and stripped-down, but this is a focused effort that is bright with instrumental depth and variance.
While the whole release is worth a listen, my personal favourites are the closing pair of Isa and Restoring Life.
