ioseb - lowercase "I" intended - is a relatively recent band to come out of Sweden. Like their contemporaries Sickoakes and EF, they fuse post-rock with shoegazing elements, including vocals, to produce highly atmospheric work. While their first release is a fractured suite of noise and beauty, the second release pulls together these elements in startling fashion, including brass instrumentation and occasional bursts of brooding guitar/bass lines that wouldn't be out of place on a Russian Circles or even an ISIS release; there's a driving, pounding, hypnotic darkness at the centre of what is otherwise a beautifully ethereal sound, and this juxtaposition is what captures the attention. Essential listening, without doubt.
