Of Breath & Bone - 2012
Labyrinth Unfolding EchoesHallo folks.
It's been a while, and that probably deserves an explanation.
Sometime in 2017 my computer suffered a catastrophic failure, and I lost my copies of Lightroom and Photoshop - along with their saved catalogues. Around twelve months later it failed again, and that time it took my data with it.
Between that, my camera malfunctioning, and my own health deteriorating at a rate of knots, I've had little motivation to visit the site - only appearing occasionally, and briefly. While this state of affairs isn't likely to change in the near future, I must stress that I'm not gone entirely - there's too much personal history attached to this site for that to ever come to pass, at least voluntarily.
Anyway. For those of you still around to read this, and particularly those who have continued to support my work in the meantime, I appreciate it.
All the best.
Kill the Captain, Feed the FishesMuch to my surprise, I was (somewhat) recently awarded a Daily Deviation. It says much about my recent inactivity on the site that it took me the best part of two weeks to even notice. That said, it is most appreciated, and I'm taking this belated opportunity to publicly thank brennennn for the feature.
Please take the time to check out the rest of the literary features for the last month, too; some impressive - and under-appreciated - work lies therein.

Imaginism - The Future Of Art Is Here Now
In Toronto & on deviantART
No better living functioning evolving example of the new pattern in the creation, dissemination and education in the visual arts can be found than Imaginism Studios, the online brainchild of artists Bobby Chiu & Kei Acedera. Established in Toronto in 2005, the studio has specialized in pre-production character and concept design for film, TV, gaming, and publishing. As creators of some of the most wildly creative and whimsical images ever presented on deviantART, this artistic couple has built an international fan base independent of the
Art + Anatomy book RecommendationsEdit: updating this for new followers who might want to see this
15 books I recommend for anatomy, art fundamental study and art inspiration. Please note that these are simply my personal recommendations and books that's helped me a lot in the past.
I've taken photos for these books, so Here's a less image-heavy list (on tumblr)
This took so much longer than I first anticipated so I really hope people find this helpful cause, seriously, spending 3 days on this does not feel like it was worth it
edit: I'm putting the tl;dr list here first as a preview of the books I'm recommending.

Research carried out by Nikon has estimated that an amazing 332 million jubilee related photos will be taken on the day of the Thamas River Pageant on June 3rd. That's amazing. It even tops the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton last year. The upcoming Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth has sparked patriotism in the most unlikely places meaning that driving down a normal street turns into an epic photo opportunity with the various bunting, flags and other bits and pieces. So whether or not you're local to London and able to join in the four days of pomp and ceremony that the British are allegedly famed for - you might find that there are events and things local to you that will bring out the journalistic candid photographer that's screaming inside to get out! But in this day and age, when every second perso
How to find out what a transform doesNot really a tutorial this time, just some exploration ideas.
There is no extensive guide to all transforms and plugins. So how do people figure what they do? The way is to experiment, and there are some techniques that work quite well for me.
As examples, i will use spherical and loonie.
A short note
For all the mathods below, make sure you try the following:
Change all the variables and try different combos of themMove the pre affine of the transform aroundScale and rotate the pre affine
Add it as post transform to squares or circles
Start (from blank) with square or sineblur, and add the variation you want to try out as post transform.
Lets start with square:
