My latest and last conversion of J Martinez' :icondragonpyper: Dreadnought mesh. Got most of all the little "issues" I was having resolved. Also added The TOS shuttlebay by TodayV4 :icontodayv4: , with his permission.

I've love this design since I first saw it in Frank's text book. This is one of the best I've seen. Always hoped to see her in the real shows or movies. Great job...

Check out the New voyages, or Phase II on youtube.  Specifically "In Harms Way"  Toward the end has a lot of the old Joseph designs.  And my good friend John Martinez actually build the model in Blender.  I merely converted and retextured it.  But thanx all the same!

Thanks, I saw "In Harms Way" a few years ago. I had heard
its called Phase II now,but haven't seen anything since the
'Chekov' episode. I'll make a point to see it again. I still have
Joe's old text book!

I always preferred Okazaki's update of Franz Joseph's design.
The three dishes making the front all flat didn't look all that aerodynamic.
I know, they're in space and there'd be no wind resistance...but still, aesthetically, the Okazaki/Starfleet Museum version just looks a little better to me.

So who else here thinks that this thing SHOULD have been canon?

Amazingly believable. Keep up the great work. :)

For a short time in the '70's it was. It is still considered to be semi-canon, due to the "Dreadnaught Entente" mention in The Motion Picture. :)

Yeah I knew about that reference and the ones in Star Trek 2 and 3(the ones on the screens in the background), however I was referring to the Franz Joseph designs appearing in the very least in a background role in the remastered TOS episodes.

Yeah, that would have been nice to see. Oh well, we still have fanart, and imho that is more canon that what we see on the screen. Still, I agree, would have been nice though.

Somehow graceful AND menacing... Don't let Decker near it, he's likely to cause a galactic incident

Spot on. This was originally built by :icondragonpyper: in Blender, and he was inspired by deg3d; and I converted it to lightwave, which has turned into a collab because I have added much more detailing.

Ithink I'll wait till he finishes updating the model before I do a conversion of it, I have a conversion of Dave Metlesits model that will do me for most renders at the moment. That and one I built in AC3D last year for a bit of fun.
