Description
Ok, So I've been throwing these up the last 3 days without much explanation.
This is my Entry for 's Indian Mythology contest [link]
I think they average out to about 3 hours each, so about 9 hours overall... wow, thats long for me!
First is Kali, who came of Durga (Mahadevi) when she was in a rage. Kali is the Goddess of time and a fierce warrior who vanquished the demon Raktabija to protect her devotees who regard her as a mother goddess.
Secondly is Mahadevi, the mother goddess who became the wife of Shiva, Pavarti and finally as the ultimate warrior goddess, Durga and Kali.
Lastly there is Sarasvati (I'm not having a great time spelling these names, btw!)
She is the Goddess of knowledge and the arts (I thought that appropriate) and it is said to be believed that Artists, writers, musicians and students are part of her family and protected by her. She uses her pearls to channel her anger through meditation.
I read through a book I have called 'The little book of Hindu Deities' (because, as far as Hinduism goes, I know nothing). Its a beautiful book illustrated by Sanjay Patel and was my main reference source for all 3 pictures. (look it up, its an amazing book!)
**minor edit* swapped them around and changed Kali's eyes.
xx
