Whew, this one took a while. I started this in the summer with a concept I had in my head for a while. The inspiration for this piece came from the game series Star Ocean, but the piece has no actual reference to the series, it is merely word-play. The idea though is that bits of stars fell from the sky and litter the ground, glowing brightly at night.
This is done in Terragen 2, which I recently upgraded to (woohoo!) and postwork done in GIMP. The stars were produced in GIMP, and added after the render was complete; I felt that the background function in Terragen gave too much blur.
I will not even tell you the render times, just that I must learn to optimize my times, or I will never be able to do a piece like this again! Simply don't have the patience for it
