The camera absolutely destroyed it D: It actually looked like it was pouring in the distance before the camera decided to go NOPE >.< And apparently the camera also thought there should be lightning in the distance..had to laugh when I saw that. And the mud...you can barely see it. Anyone want to dish out the money and get me a scanner that's not 10 years old and worse than the camera?

Much to everyone's dismay, the drizzle that had began during the Heritage Stakes did not let  up during the following race, and by the time the final race of the day, the Legacy Handicap, rolled around, the dirt track had absorbed a lot of water. It wasn't pooling on the surface just yet, but if the incoming clouds were any indication, that was going to be changing shortly.

While Rooh was officially four years old, she had been a late foal, born in July. She had also been slow to mature, and had gone through some ridiculous growth spurts that had caused her to be extremely uncoordinated for weeks at a time. Due to that, she had not been broken in until early last year, and had not raced until the fall. Dennis had trained her personally at the request of his father, who had been fond of the prissy filly. The one upside to her disdain of the mud, however, was that she was not dramatic like Tweety was about it. She wasn't even dramatic at all with it, she just did not care for the feel of the surface, and this was a very, very good thing as she had a tendency to trail some lengths behind the field, and then turn on the after burners as they came into the home stretch, leaving her more of a chestnut than a dark brown.

The upside to things was that of the two horses Dennis thought would give the filly a problem was that the one hated the mud, and the other, well, the other was a bit like Nutter, and her presence in the race had a high chance of being a major distraction for him. The mare was no hussy, and was much more inclined to pin her eats at at horse who got too close, and this stallion was no exception. Luckily he was a few stalls away in the starting gate, so he broke with the rest of the pack, while Rooh broke slowly as she was apt to do. It wasn't until she caught up with the field that he really noticed her, and by then she was rolling, and he was not going to be able to catch her. It as just a matter of whether she would be able to catch the normally flashy, but currently covered in mud, black stallion that had led the race from the beginning..
