Sorry for the long delay between updates, been crazy busy with everything since Aph came home.
Just wanted to send out a huge thank you to everyone. Not only those who contributed, but those who helped to get the word out about what happened. With everyone's help we not only met our goal, but exceeded it. Aph and I cannot thank everyone enough!!
Aph’s recovery is going well, the doctors are all really impressed with how she is coming along. She has been a real trooper through all this. She hopes to have the energy to send out personal thank you's soon.
Its been one week at home and we are still seeing steady improvement with Aph's recovery.
She is walking more and using the wheelchair less as her right leg gets stronger. Still not much out of her arm, but we are starting to use electrodes to try to wake up the muscles she needs to get it moving again.
Aph is working hard on her speech and memory as well. if she isn't doing her physical therapy she is doing her reading exercises.
We still have a long way to go, but she is making progress every day.
Thank you everyone for all of the support. Aph is home and doing as well as could be expected. We have already put new challenges in front of her, and she is tackling and completing them quite well. Even managed to brave the mall today to find her new shoes that fit the leg brace that helps her walk (with a cane).
Aph's husband back with an update.
Wanted to first thank everyone for your kindness, generosity and of course your well wishes for my wife. My wife did not know I had started the GoFunMe until after the first day. I showed her what we had accomplished in such a short time, and I read her everyone's comments (there, and here) for her. She was in tears the entire time, she was so overwhelmed and thankful for all of it.
This week we hit a milestone. She was able to move her right leg for the first time. Not a lot, maybe about an inch, but this is still a major step in her recovery.
We also learned that she will be coming home this Thursday. This does not mean she is done recovering by any means, she has a long way to go. As her doctors say "recovery continues at home". I know she will be thankful to be home after 4+ long weeks away. She will be especially thankful not to have to eat hospital food anymore as well.

On September 20th, my wife Aphrodite-NS was unexpectedly was hit with a hemorrhagic stroke.
Aphrodite-NS had none of the typical red flags when it comes to a stroke. She is only 41 years young, is not overweight, had (and still does) have normal blood pressure and has no family history of stroke. Her doctors are calling this a "spontaneous event" because they cannot find a cause or reason why this happened.
Because of the stroke, Aphrodite-NS now has right side weakness. Presently she cannot use her leg or arm (though she has some sensation) as well as impaired speech and memory loss/confusion (Apraxia and Aphasia).
Currently she is in a three week in-patient rehabilitation center, but she is looking at a long road of six months to a year before she will be able to return to work, or at what capacity.
We do have insurance, but the deductibles as well as the out of pocket expenses are piling up quickly. During her recovery process Aphrodite-NS will not be able to work and her recovery will be ongoing, which means a lot of outpatient therapy and the deductibles that will come with those. (Three therapies, 2-3 times a week at a cost of $25.00 each)
As many of you know, Aphrodite-NS is a very creative person. She looks forward to not only getting back to work, but to also creating the things she loves and sharing those creations with everyone around her.
Feel free to message this account if you have any questions or well wishes you wish to pass on.
