Baby Pikachu (with pattern)

By aphid777
931 Favourites
First off, this pattern is incomplete.  I was not able to write proper instructions for the tail, just a really rough one that I have posted in my scraps here: fav.me/d74nhwc  I apologize for that, but I hope the notes I have will help!

I don't know if I'm completely happy with how Pikachu's face turned out.. I don't think he looks quite accurate, but it was difficult balancing accuracy with a similar style to the other three.  The ears are floppy on purpose because I like floppy ears :D  Eyes and other details are needle felted, though I'm sure regular cut out felt or embroidering will work too.   Let me know if you catch any errors!  Hope you guys have a great weekend and happy crocheting! :)

As usual, please credit me should you use or alter this pattern since it takes me a lot of time to figure out and type these up and please be respectful and don't sell the finished product since I don't own this character!  Thank you!

(The FO point should be approximately in the midline of the underside of his body)

**For optional fingers, include puff stitches.  Otherwise, ignore the slip stitches and puff stitches and just do single crochet stitches.

Puff stitch:
Do 3 incomplete double crochet stitches (all but the last step of the double crochet stitch) into the same stitch.   You should have 4 loops on your hook at this point.  Yarn over and draw the yarn through all 4 loops to complete.  Make sure  to tighten this stitch as much as you can before continuing to prevent holes from forming.

I'd just like your permission before posting this on my Pinterest account for easy access- i love this pattern and love your work (although i wish there is a pattern for Zoroark so i can make him for my bf's birthday). Thank you and you are amazing!!

When I'm trying the puff stitch I just can't get my hook through 2nd loop doing the 2nd step of first double crochet. Even broke my yarn twice already xD. Any tips?
LotusMichaelis's avatar
Try to turn the hook all the way so the hook faces down and pull up the loops high enough.
I sometimes just grab the loop and get it over the hook with my fingers xD

would the needle felted pieces stick to acrylic yarn?
safyrephoenix's avatar

They are needle felted directly into the work so its very secure, youtube needle felting amigurumi eyes.

How can i do the eyes? somebody knows? and what FO point means?
Autumnsdebri's avatar
FO is "finish off", so basically just finish the last row and then finish or bind off at the end of the last stitch of the previous row. So if row 9 is "dec around (5)", after your final decrease finish/ bind off the piece.

I just read u, thank you vm for info ^^, btw do u know explain how can i do the eyes? is it done sewing with wool? and the fingers(nails)? how do they do to make it with volume?
THANK YOU again!

Needle felting is a technique you can find out about on youtube. It involves stabbing roving wool with a special needle felting needle into the work to secure it. Its harder to explain and much easier to understand with youtube.

And she explains the fingers in the pattern with puff stitches

Hello guys.
I would like to know what size this pikachu has?
Kanin-Los's avatar
I think it depends on what yarn you use. right now I'm working on it and I'm using cotton yarn. So mine is really small, small enough to be in my hand.
ashleysah's avatar
So you have wonderful work and I can only hope to be as good as you one day and I have made everything except for the ears for some reason I am having trouble with the 3rd round my rows are not lining up am I doing something wrong?
ashleysah's avatar
Never mind I am sorry I miss read it I got it now and thank you again for sharing

Okay I'm somewhat new to crocheting I figured out how to do the magic circle and I know basic stitches like sc and dc, do you know of any good videos to look at to help me figure out how to go about the next steps?
Sunflower0307's avatar
Did you needle felt directly on the pikachu of did you needle felt it separately and attach it somehow?
ReeRee875's avatar

directly to the pikachu!

Couture2000's avatar
For the felting. do i need a felting needle ? Or can i use a regular needle
Sunflower0307's avatar
You gotta have the special needles.
Couture2000's avatar
Ok thx so can you needle felt felt?or needle felt yarn? Or?
destany242's avatar
I have so many bumps not sure where the cheeks and nose are. I haven't FO because I'm sewing crocheted cheeks and eyes on it's face. I'm just not sure where to put stuff lol

I'm blown away with the things you do! they are all so perfectly made and it shows you are very careful with the finishing details! Thank you for sharing all your creations. I will definitely have to explore the needle felting world. Hope some day I could be half as good as you are! :)
