Baby Bulbasaur (with pattern)

Hey everyone!  It's been a while since I've made a Pokemon. I really enjoyed making this guy and I love how he turned out! :)  I'm planning on making the other starter Pokemon as well and maybe re-making Pikachu?  We shall see.

So this pattern is pretty similar to my "Derpy Pooh" pattern   but with some changes and of course the addition of the bulb (Is it just me or does it totally look like garlic?).  He ended up being about 6 inches long.  All the details (eyes, spots, claws) are needle felted on and I managed not to stab myself this time! :dummy:

As usual, let me know if I've made any errors!  And since I don't own this character, please don't sell the finished product and please credit me should you use or reference this pattern!  Much appreciated and happy crocheting! :)

-[Sc 3, dec] around (12)<--This round is used in step 2
-Dec around in inner loops only (6)
-FO (Sew opening shut but avoid touching the outer loops that will be used in Step 2)

Step 2: (This step is for the leaves at the top of the bulb.  Holding the bulb upside down, work in the outer loops of the second to last row from Step 1)

-Sc around (12)
-[Sl st, hdc inc] around (18) <--This step makes the leaves at the top of the bulb wavy
-FO

Note:  After attaching the bulb to the body, I stretched yarn over the surface to divide it into 6 segments.  I chose to use 2 strands of yarn twisted together so it would be more stable, but whatever works!

Hiya, thanks so much for sharing this pattern. I wanted to let you know that I'd made one for myself, and am currently in the process of making one for someone who's part of a bulbasaur appreciation group I'm in, who lost everything in the recent wildfires in Oregon to restart her bulbasaur collection. I thought you'd like to know how happy your pattern will make someone :)

the fasten off point is approximately in the back of the head as described, but I still have a moderately sized hole at the bottom of the head? how is that fixed?

My Grandson loves it, now he’s asking for Pikachu, Squirtle, and Charmander for his birthday. Thank you for the pattern.

It looks really cool and my brother asked me to make this, but how did you make the eyes and dots? do you just sew them on later or do I have to switch colours during the pattern?

Can you please tell me how you attached the head to the body? I'm ripping my hair out trying to figure it out from looking at the pictures.
CrochetDolls's avatar
I attach my heads and bodys by making a large knot on a piece of the same color yarn, and pull that through a stitch in the head.  Next, sew the head to the body with multiple stitches in the head and the body.
