Welp, college can go suck a donky kong, because I landed myself an apprenticeship as an electrician. Schooling included by the company, and I only have to pay less than $20 a week for it.
My pay has nearly doubled since my first job. I'm working with my hands(something I absolutely love). The only jerks I deal with have no real say in my career. And my social flaws are irrelevant because my work ethic speaks for itself.
WHAT MORE COULD I ASK FOR?!? I swear I feel like one of the luckiest 21 year olds on the planet right now.
Only downside right now is the weather. Heat index today is supposed to be 120°F (ich!) and I'm renovating a restaurant with horrendous air conditioning. My days consist of 8-12 hours in the heat then coming home, showering, and passing out in my chair. But I still love it.
I'll find a way to make myself have the energy to draw more. I've been dying to get ideas out of my head lately and completely forget about them later.
I'm truly glad I sought other options besides college. This isn't to say I think college is useless, but I have always learned better with my hands. I could never retain information about random facts I don't rely on daily, so textbooks were/are pretty much a waste for me personally.
If you're like me, I'd suggest going into a trade as soon as you can. Prove you can work, and work hard. Don't fool around, you can play on your phone and check your media at home. Have a can-do attitude. Be respectful. Tell the truth. Make light hearted conversation when appropriate. Don't be a pushover when you know something is correct, explain your line of thinking. Manage all this, and you'll catch the right kind of attention.
Here's to hoping I can get back into dA more from now on, I've missed y'all!
