I'm back in NorCal, now that my dad is healthy again.  I've begun gathering materials for the Hobbit costumes I'm going to make.  For this Samhain and the final Hobbit movie that will come out this winter (I'm assuming).  That is, they're not going to be hobbit costumes, exactly, but dwarf costumes from the Hobbit. ^_^ I'm going to go as a female Kili, while my best friend and bro ~Neon-BaNdIcOoT (https://www.deviantart.com/neon-bandicoot) will go as Fili. <3  I also have two amazing friends who are going as the ever-majestic Thorin Oakenshield and the wonderful Bofur.  I'm taking all year to do these costumes, since it's going to be a lot of work and I want them to look grand

My dad is deathly ill and I drove up to Washington to be with him. He's more or less in a medically induced coma, and I haven't left his side except to shower and eat. I have a little bed to sleep on, and I have plenty of books. But I've actually been spending a lot of time painting, although it hasn't been fruitful. I just want him to get better.

Hello Internet! So, I've decided to stop being so goddam lazy and have started painting with oils again.  It's hard.  I'm really inexperienced, and I'm just kind of making it up as I go along.  However, I've found a few tutorials that have been pretty useful. At first, I tried copying a male model in an ad I found, which was a disaster. XD  So now I'm trying to paint a self portrait and I'm really taking my time with the thing.  I figured that, despite my lack of oil painting knowledge, I might start to see some improvements if I focus on fundamentals. I'm really surprised to say this, but...  It's actually been kind of fun. :>
