Quartz starters 3 - Marble starters

o3o;; well, this took way longer than it should have. i would've started it back in February (of 2019), but i got lazy ... o3o;; so this pic ended up taking nearly 2 years ... o.o it would also almost take that long for a sequel for Quartz to start being developed. Quartz gained plenty of infamy a year since it came out (mostly due to this Let's Play ... bit of a warning, the jokes don't hold up. they're rape jokes, you see) and, while it became infamous, it also catapulted Baro's rep. o3o turns out the guy's a good sport about everything, he didn't mind his fakes being called abominations. o.o yeah, this guy made some ugly fakemon, but what he did was very admirable. o3o;; a 15 year old with limited hacking tools and expertise ... created an entirely new region (well, it's mostly a reskinned Hoenn, but yeah) with a completely original fakedex. o.o and he was gonna make a new one too. o_o Marble was considered pretty revolutionary at the time ... and got more positive reception than Quartz did. though the fakemons ... o3o;; they're still questionable. o.o many of the ones from the unused portion of Quartz's fakedex would be used, as well as some entirely new ones. sadly, this would never be completed. o_o life and all. Baro ultimately retired from hacking and Marble would remain incomplete (here's proof)

so yeah, after a long ass time, i drew the Marble starters. o3o;; and these are, arguably, the most outlandish ones. we got Denfrota, Roellama, and Bultoad. again, they're pretty off. for fuck's sake, we got a sentient peach tree (that came from a peach itself), a weird fiery rat with its lower half singed off and a fuse for a tail, o3o;; and Bultoad ... well, it says it's a toad, but what toad has a mouth like that ... or a body like a penguin ... with arms that are pretty much cannons. it also wears a fez. all 3 were pretty annoying to make in their own way. Denfrota's body was shaded weirdly and the references i found had various depictions ... o3o;; and Roellama was worse. the sprite was pretty derpy ... o3o good thing popkas depicted it well enough. but from Marble's awkward title screen, Roellama actually was shown to have claws on its paws ... so i depicted them to be retractable. o_o and Bultoad was the easiest one. o3o;; really, it was just that weird mouth that was hard to depict. and i couldn't tell if the original sprite had scleras ... so i went with what popkas did when she drew it (it's clear that she's referred to the most)

._.;; whew, description's already pretty long. got some history above, my drawing experience above this (and porn), and a link to Marble below. im just using this space to say that there's actually one more set of Quartz starters ... o3o;; and they're evos of these guys ...

o_o for a while, all the shit for Marble was lost due to various sites going under. o3o;; when Baro retired back in 2010, he shared his work since he didn't want it to be lost ... but around that time, MegaUpload was being fucked over ... and whack-a-hack (or just wahack), the site where he and various other spanish hackers whored off their work at the time, had died a painful death a couple years ago. fortunately, i was able to hunt it down, so if you're curious about this dead hack, i provided my own link

Quartz and Marble (as well as Denfrota, Roellama, and Bultoad) belongs to Baro
