*bold introductory comment time ... and it's a doozy. got some history. 12/5/2010 ... that day, i found Ara's Pearl Nuzlocke (now impossible to find in its entirety since Nonparael nuked their entire dA ages ago, -3- fucking hate when people do that) in behindtG's (now TamarinFrog's) favorites and enjoyed it. i eventually looked up the original ... o3o;; which led to me spending a good portion of the month reading every last comic in the (now nonexistent) fancomics section of the site ... then i started up my own on the 29th (hence why this is being whored out today). didn't know about emulators at the time, so i restarted my Diamond since i, admittedly, wasn't doing much with it ...

*wanted to make my own story and maybe get some recognition ... but Tale of Yanlen never made it to the main dA nuz group. o.o could be the title since it didn't imply that it was a Nuzlocke (hence why my titles are the way they are now) or the lousy way it started (i tried coinciding it with my cheap, inferior Random Doom imitation that's never being brought back) ... i also thought maybe they didn't accept written runs or think of them being a concept (i legit thought this was the first one at the time. 16 year old me was dumber than i am now) ... o3o;; but really, it was just so bad that it didn't deserve a place there. hell, when i think of my 4 main runs (WN-SJ, XN-HV, SN-SE, SN-HP), i don't even consider it being among those. it's phased out like the rest of my cancelled runs (though this actually did get finished). it was a bad Nuzlocke and an even worse story, o3o;; even by my lousy standards. i don't even use "lawl" or "XD" anymore, that's the kind of quality we have here ...

* still ... gotta honor my first ever run. while i don't look back on it fondly today, i still liked some characters and the design of Yanlen. o.o she was initially just a throwaway character from a different story entirely, but i liked the design enough to recycle her (man, i miss tektek.org. o.o not GaiaOnline, though. the original dream avatar still exists, btw) so yeah. o_o it's been a full decade since i was thrown into this world ... so i thought i'd make a real first page to celebrate. o3o;; i initially wanted to alternate between literature and comic, but ... well, im a lazy bastard. and i only had MS Paint and a Mouse to work with (didn't stop me from attempting The Chronicles of Mr. J, though. that piece of shit's never getting redone, btw) ... o_o so after 10 years, there's finally an actual comic version ... -3-;; took long enough ...

*o.o i updated Yanlen's design a bit. her hair's not so straight anymore (it stopped being straight around the end of the original anyway), she has more curves (couldn't really make ass before), o3o and i gave her even bigger tits (they were just D's before ... now they're triple). also changed up her shirt a little to really show dem tittays (there was no window before). she'd probably also be aged up a little too. o.o 16 year olds can have that size and those curves, buuut ...

** oh, she's also way more shameless than before. o.o i remember making her not that into pokephilia (she'd make some passes on her starter, but it never went further than that). now, she'd totally want to be DP'ed by Riley and his Lucario

*i never gave PINGAS a real design. this was also the first time i ever made Barry. o3o;; as for the name, it was 10 years ago ... o3o and the excuse for it is still the same. o.o only with a bit less cringe. o_o he never had much of a personality either, aside from exploding randomly after a loss (it got old fast and the gag was never done right). o3o now, while he's hyper and impatient, he's also tired of how stupid his friend is

** he ain't horny for her, she's too stupid for his tastes. o.o he also thinks she'd just drop his ass once she found a bigger, better cock (his worries are very understandable)

*o3o my first ever nuz starter ... and he's had little to no change whatsoever. Burstflame was always intended to be the serious type with his hair covering his eyes. o3o;; with someone like Yanlen, there has to be someone who's sane. o.o he was also never horny for her. o_o no, he ain't gay or ace, he's just not attracted to idiots

*Burstflame's name actually was intended to be a reference to Grandia (pretty much the textbook definition of "greatest game you've never played". it'd be more well known if FF7 didn't come out at around the same time ...) ... o3o;; but it turns out the spell was actually Burnflame. o_o im not changing the name, though ... -3- and the small words are staying because fuck you

*this is also the first time i ever made Lucas ... o3o;; and Professor Rowan. lot of firsts for this oneshot

*and that'll be it. i wouldn't expect this to continue. <_<;; i mean, it hurt so much just to look back at that awful first page for this. o.o though if Sinnoh remakes come, i may contemplate it, maybe start up a newer, better file ... o3o;; because, while it was my first ever Nuzlocke, that run was just a fucking disaster. a myriad of corpses (20-fucking-7. it was the highest i had ... well, til an Alternate Evos run eclipsed it with 42 about 3 years later), a continuously changing team (Burstflame and a Roserade named Hana were the only constants, the rest kept biting the dust and plenty had little to no real development. also, best poke, Dextra the Aipom, died too soon), and i didn't have friggin dupes clause either (oddly, i never ran into a single Bidoof) so there were repeated ones who served no real purpose other than to die

** im strongly against nuz reboots since they're a huge waste of time and motiv. i've seen many attempt them and ultimately give up. ._. but in this case, it would actually be warranted since the initial run was just that bad ... and since this was initially never actually a comic to begin with. o_o but again, definitely not a sure thing to happen (especially considering my lack of motiv) ... ._.;; just like the remakes. o.o eh, we'll see

*** actually, let's see if this becomes dated in like 2-5 months or something. heard rumors that remakes just may come for 2021
