9th Gen Starters

<_<;; im just getting slower with these, o3o;; i had this pic done several fucking weeks ago. o.o but yeah, as is tradition, i drew the new starters of the new gen (did it 3 other times). o.o this time, we got a grass cat (so, water cat in 2 gens?), a fire croc (o3o hah. fuck you, zodiac theorists ... -3-;; they're gonna think it'll turn into a snake or pull the stretch that male crocs are called bulls, aren't they?), and a water duck (well, a booby, actually ... hehe, "booby"). o.o admittedly thought they were kinda goofy at first ... for like 4 seconds. o3o but you know how the process goes (it's a lot quicker for me since im pretty much open to all pokes)

much like last time, the starter reveal came immediately, courtesy of the trailer. o.o as expected, hardly anything is known (not even the region name) ... and will likely remain that way til May or June. but what we got is fairly notable. we've seen what the region looks like ... o3o nosotros vamos a espana~ (we're going to Spain). o.o guess that vacation from like 3 years ago was really just planning way ahead, huh? o_o and the trainers ... o3o;; they look lame as hell. o.o nice touch with the version exclusive colors, o3o;; but Scarlet and Violet here just look like typical students. o.o though i wonder if they're teaching anything notable involving that 6 pronged star. since X/Y, these little things on japanese logos have indicated some kind of gimmick (remember when a bunch of complete fucking idiots thought the Z-Crystal on the SuMo logo indicated it'd be a ReBURST situation? ... -_- yeah, i want to forget too ...) ... o.o and since SuMo, so have code names. the one for that was Rainbow (referencing the whole light theme) and the one for SwSh was Orion (a giant. also a constellation, referencing Dynamax and Wishing Stars) ... o_o so what the fuck does Titan mean ... o3o;; and 三, for that matter (straight from the enigmatic Chinese Riddler. yes, he's still around)

o.o got an interesting thing being repeated for the starters ... o3o;; it's pretty much the Smugleaf situation again (actual fan name for Snivy back then. the meme became the next so i herd you liek mudkipz. remember that? well, you do now). Grass starter undoubtedly has a majority of the love, complete with an identity that most of the internet has coined upon it. in this case, it's "Weed Cat" (no points for why). o.o make no mistake, both the Fire and Water starters aren't hated (unlike Tepig and Oshawott ... poor Pignite and Wotter were loathed back then), o3o;; but in terms of overall love (fanart and porn included), Fuecoco and Quaxly just don't hold a candle to Sprigatito. o.o that seems to be the only thing from the past that was brought back. SwSh ended 2 odd cycles that i noticed over the years (3 if you count this one pattern people came up with. personally, i do not). the Water starter wasn't outright despised or considered derpy (Sobble ended this. this did not resume) and the most popular starter at the time didn't end up being the worst in battle (Scorbunny straight up became the new Greninja, being broken as fuck. it's currently unknown if this trend will make a comeback) ... what else is there to add to this bit of info ... o.o oh, Weed Cat was the biggest pain to draw since im generally bad with quadrupeds ... o.o though it was just the body that was hard, the head was kinda easy. it's surprisingly symmetrical (don't bring up that one annoying tweet, im not even gonna link it) and i already had practice with those kinds of whiskers courtesy of Hirano (SN-HP). Fuecoco was a bit tricky, especially around the head, but i think i did ok ... o_o and Quaxly was the easiest to draw by far. im usually bad with birds too ...

o.o got another tough choice ...

admittedly, im pretty partial to Weed Cat here. o3o fun fact; Uranium actually predated this thing by several years with their own grass lynx (yes, Sprigatito's a lynx. makes sense considering Spain loves em). o.o despite my love for it ...

the little croc that looks like a pepper (yes, it's a pepper, not an apple) is just plain adorable. o3o just look at it, come on ... o.o and considering what the hell it is, it really makes you wonder just how it'll turn out in the end

o.o and then there's Quaxly, another cute one. it also has the biggest dick of any starter. ._. no seriously, have you seen how big a duck's dick can get? the big dick energy is real for this one, figuratively and literally

o.o we already got theories for just how these 3 could turn out ... o_o well, mainly for Fuecoco. quite a few things point to it being a ghost pepper in the end. there's a legend about El Cuco (or just Coco or Coca ... or The Coco Man). o_o akin to the boogeyman, it's some kind of freaky ghost monster that some spanish parents use to scare the mierda (no translation needed) out of their kids so they can behave. o3o and while coco means crocodile, it can also mean skull ... so yeah. not saying it's for certain, but it's something to keep in mind. o.o another interesting tidbit about that is that in Brazilian folkore, the coca is a female humanoid alligator ....... o3o;; really makes you think, huh? o.o there ain't much for Quaxly (aside from the standard Donald Duck and Josuke memes ... lol), and as for Sprigatito ... o3o;; this says enough. o_o i mean, really. so many people don't want it to be bipedal. o3o;; it's pretty fucking pathetic. makes me want it to be just to spite them. and the possibility genuinely is there, could go the Puss in Boots route, maybe even go full Don Quixote (well, without the String-String Fruit ... read One Piece). o.o all i know for sure is this. o3o;; plenty of people have really embraced Weed Cat (honestly, the meme got annoying quick). oh, and have some Fuecoco memes too (didn't want it to be left out), as well as an amusing pic of what the evil team could be (im just abusing my ability to make named links at this point)
