Rerun woke to whimpers. She laid on her berth, wondering if she was just hearing things until she heard them again. She climbed off her berth, quickly skipping away from the dark space underneath for fear of Unicron snatching her up. She slipped out of her room, looking around. She followed the quiet whimpers to the room across the hall on the far right. She peeked in, jumping slightly when she saw two glowing golden optics looked back at her. She tried to calm her frantically pulsating spark when she realized it was Blades, not Unicron; he was clutching a pillow like it was his lifeline, making her frown.
"Whats wrong--what's wrong, Blades?" she asked, cursing her speech pattern. Shrapnel was her cousin, however, so she had no say in her vocalization pattern.
"Rerun? Is that you?"
The near silent question tugged on the sympathy in Rerun's spark.
"Yeah--Yeah," she replied. "I hear you--heard you while I was recharging. Is everything okay---everything okay in here?"
Rerun waited patiently when he didn't answer at first.
Blades said quietly, "Hey, I need somebody to sleep with me…because I might have a nightmare of Megatron…aah!"
Rerun followed Blades's gaze and her night vision clearly saw what he cried out at. "It's a--it's a mouse," she explained softly.
Blades chuckled a bit hysterically. "Oh… How silly of me."
Rerun saw that the copter bot didn't want to be alone and got an idea. "I'll be right--be right back… I promise--promise."
She skipped back to her room, so giddy that she forgot her fear of Unicron under her recharge berth. She grabbed her kremzeek toy out from under her pillow and ran back to Blades's room again. Ignoring Blades's cry of surprise, Rerun into the room, skidded to a stop in front of the youngest mech member of the Rescue Bots, and placed her sparkling hood toy in his lap.
"Here ya go--ya go!" she cried happily. "Kremzeek will protect you from Megatron…and Unicron." She added the last part in case Unicron didn't mind stealing bots without regular berths.
Blades scooted over before Rerun could leave. "Would you…stay with me…please?"
Rerun resisted the almost irresistible urge to say 'awe~!' when Blades faceplates flushed a bright pink. She jumped onto the pile of pillows, scattering them everywhere before collecting them again. She laid down, wrapping her arms around Blades--as far as she could--and the pillow he was clutching.
"Now we can--we can stay warm!" Rerun chirped. "And we will--we will be protected from--protected from Unicron and Megatron!"
In the morning, Heatwave went to go wake Blades. He was surprised to see Boulder and Chase already at the youngest mech's door. He looked over their shoulders and was surprised to see Rerun, the youngling they had rescued only three days before, was cuddling with Blades. She hadn't been comfortable with anyone, yet she was sleeping in Blades's room. Chase and Boulder were about to enter the room, but Heatwave stopped them by putting his servos on their shoulders.
"Let them sleep in," he mumbled, not wanting to wake the youngest members. "If there's an emergency, the siren will wake them."
The three older mechs walked away, then image of Blades holding Rerun close, as if to comfort the youngling, fresh on their processors.

Blades is too afraid to recharge, not wanting to have nightmares of Megatron. Rerun, a youngling the Rescue Bots had recently adopted, is ready for a sleepover.
