I tried water marble but the nail polish just sticks to the stick when I try to make a design and it just ends up in a complete mess. Any tips?!?

It means that nail polish is probably already dried in water, so you can't dry design anymore. So when you try to make a design a whole thing just sticks and you can pull it out of the water? You have to work a little bit faster so you can be able to make a design. Don't use fast drying nail polishes, or old thick ones. And when you're making a design, do it with a light hand, very lightly, and also don't start with the first outer circle. :)

I did it too...what you need is wet n' wild, and sally Hansen to make it work

Haha, Oh I wish I can buy those, we don't have Sally and WnW here. :] Now, when I'm pro at this technique, almost every polish works. :D

Mine did too. It depends on which polishes you use, which water, temperature of water.. So many things. :/ It was hard to find out what works the best.
