20x16 inch acrylic on canvas. never tried a person. quite interesting, though im still uncertain.
wow I love this- the technique you've been using all this time really lends itself to this image. The buddha looks really peaceful - like he's underwater. the textured surface looks like ripples or raindrops, and underneath all the disturbances he is serene. love it. Beautiful color choices too
I seem to hit walls every so often where I feel like im going in circles. then I find a way around or over the walls. which open whole new paths to explore. this is one of those openings. from frustration is born excitement. the watery thing is fitting since Buddha is tied to the lotus flower which grows in the water. I feel refreshed and encouraged at least for now. thanks for commenting, it really helps me mentally to hear such good things.
i like that you can see it being tied tot he lotus flower! What I personally thought of was a meditation exercise I heard once where you imagine you're in an ocean, with angry raging waves, but you let yourself sink to the very bottom where there is peace and silence, and you can look at the waves above you without judgement and let them go.
This is awesome, your work always has such cool effects and combining them with the face of a person is simply brilliant.
I knew immediately when I saw this in my messages that it was the buddha. You did a great job of capturing his likeness. I absolutely love it!
its even more impressive in person. I like it more the longer I look at it. it has a sense of contentment to it. or enlightenment. a day or two after I painted it pbs had a show about the Buddha. I had to watch it, it was like a sign or something. im pondering another one. maybe jesus. it opens up many new avenues to explore. your comment really bolstered my confidence. thanks a plenty.
Very interesting, I like it.
love it, great piece............
