As an artist, you are sometimes creating pieces that are "so so", and suddenly you are creating a piece that tells you are on the right track. A piece that is on a higher level then the other pieces you created before. For me this is such a piece.

It seems I am finally beginning to master the medium of acrylics.

This is the colored version of the color page I created for the Belgian Star Wars Fan Club, also see the coloring page here [link]
(and the good thing about creating color pages is...that you can also color them yourself)

While painting this piece, I noticed I was being inspired by the techniques of Ralph McQuerie, Doug Chang and Don Lawrence. For me they are all great modern masters I admire very much...

For the rest, thanks for reading and watching.

Take care.

Awesome work. It looks almost like Doug Chang's style.

I haven't seen something that has been hand colored at looked so great at the same time, if not ever. Excellent work on this.

Another reason why I love this is that it is nostalgic, I watched the heck out of The Phantom Menace as a kid and Naboo, B1 Battle Droids, and STAPs ring me back to my childhood, great job on capturing that. :)

Well thank you very much for the very kind feedback. Hand coloring is something I have not done for a long time, simply because of practical reasons. Digital painting has a lot of advantages when you have a busy life and art is not your occupation. But even in my digital work, I try to approach it in a traditional way.
About you nostalgic feelings, I guess I know what you mean. I was raised with the original trilogy (yeah, I am just an old man...), and I have the same thing with Death Star and the stormtroopers and such. Really good to read you have the same with this piece :-)

Thanks MittMac, glad you like it! The size of the painting is A4. Reason is that it is more easy for me to store it.

I agree on that. Although painting on bigger sizes can feel better, storage is a hell!
