Regardless of the less-than-helpful "critiques" already posted, I'd just like to say that this photograph captures a special moment. It shows strong photojournalism, and does its purpose as a wedding shot. Photographing a wedding is not entirely about fine art, but rather doing a job for a client in an artful or creative way. I think the client would really enjoy this shot and remember the moment happily. What they would not likely do is sit there and pick apart every little detail. In my opinion, a wedding is presented and it is the photographer's job to capture moments for the cleint(s). You don't always have control over every little detail, but you can't just stop photographing because of it. This photo has a lot of emotion and tells a bit of a story. I don't think it was any mistake being a DD. So good work. : )

Thanks for that. My sentiments exactly. Its usually from my photographers point of view I may appreciate a photograph only for the client not to choose it for their wedding album. Thanks again!

Bah, this IS beautiful. :) Don't let people get you down, it's a nice picture ^^

But just saying I don't see why It should be a DD but that's just my opinion.

Though very professional shot, it looks crisp and beautiful ^^

Aww, that's precious. I bet they were remembering their wedding day :)

What I think I like best about this is that when I first saw it I misread the title and thought it said "Now and Then" which made me see it as a picture where one couple is a current picture of the couple and the other couple is a "then" picture of the couple. Truthfully the parents look enough like the couple that it could work. However, as just a wedding picture it is a very cute image, reminds me of some of my wedding photos.

this caught my eye among all the other DD's today, becuase of the fact that its not a "picture perfect" photo. I really like the expressions on the bride and grooms face and the spontaneity of it.

I think this is a great photograph. The purpose of art is to convey an emotion, convey it strongly, and hopefully to make the viewer feel that emotion themselves, sometimes by reminding them of a memory. And this does that excellently.
great photo.... it shows how spontaneous people are at weddings. People go through a lot of emotions during that day.

Well done!

It's a nicely exposed photo of the people - bit of a shame that the sky's burnt out - but to be honest - a DD?

It's a good shot and a nice moment for the people involved but I don't personally think it's of DD standard artisically (and this is an artists website). People have the right to suggest what they feel is worthy but in this case I think estudio's letting the front page down.

Well there goes free speech - rules rules and more rules - if you can only comment in a positive fashion then whats the point in allowing comments - you may as well just have a sliding scale to click between "I like it .... and I Love It" - after all most postiive comments aren't constructive.

That rule should be changed and I am glad people continue to break it. Art must not be a passive process but an interactive one, otherwise it stagnates. A negative reaction is just as valid and worthy of expression as a positive one.

BTW, I think the photo is decent, but would benefit greatly from post work if possible. Blacks and whites are blown out--you can't see any detail in the sky or the men's jackets, for example. The sky also contrasts poorly with the people's mood and could use some treatment to make it less bleak/stark.

Err - server lag ftw - apologies for the double post.
