Orbit - Redux by ANTIFAN-REAL

Yesterday I completed a new universe video - which utilises the cosmology in The Urantia Book to depict our journey from here to the centre of all things. UB readers would be very interested, but hopefully lots of people will find it interesting enough to give it a play <3 It benefits from good sound and a big screen!

I hope everyone is doing well out there - light and love to you all!

There is a lot of stuff that I paint and forget to post up here - it sits around on my hard drive until I can publish it (if client based) or simple sits there and I forget about it. I thought I'd make a behance page to help collate some of my professional works - and also a "Prosite" with NDA'd works on for clients. The behance page is here:

www.behance.net/antiphan

You might stumble upon some new works there - or ones I've simply forgotten to post here :)

I hope you are all well out there. :)

Hello all :)

I have just made a new video :)

which relates to this older one

Basically it has been made as a short introduction for "The Urantia Book"

Urantia Foundation

and

The Urantia Fellowship

For me it was lots of work in After Effects and Premier :) - fun though. :)

I hope you like it.

Goodbye for now console gaming. :) After a good number of years working on console and PC orientated games products I have changed my day-to-day creative arena somewhat and am now working on projects much more aligned to social games and smaller cycle projects. I must admit it is like a breath of fresh air - reminding me very much of the early days of the industry.

What I have found in the last 10 years or so within AAA games development is the stakes have become much higher, the costs have become far greater but the creativity in many cases has been squashed by the need to meet financial criteria rather that a visionary goal.

While I am still finding it hard to find the time to paint much personal work - I am delighted that more recently I am painting and being creative all of the time - working up new ideas and visual styles with vigor and within a group of other like-minded people. Long may this feeling continue! :)

I hope all is well with you out there.

Updates and a new movie :)

Journal Entry: Mon Nov 19, 2012, 2:34 AM
Hello all,

I've been so busy this last 6-10 months that I have had little chance to create much personal work, which is a pity as I just love creating art for the joy of it!

Recently I worked with renowned musician Siddhartha Barnhoorn in creating a celestial music video to compliment a preview for his new album, due out early next year. I had posted this as a deviation, but I've just found out that it is possible to embed a YT link into a Journal Entry so I thought it might be better placed here :)

Make sure you set it to be viewed at 1080P :)

On the other fronts I have been very busy working on numerous projects. Completing my 3rd year as Concept AD on "F1 2010-2012" - and also Concept AD on "F1 Race Stars" - both of which have been a great deal of fun to work on. I'm in the process with other projects which unfortunately I cannot talk about currently. :)

I hope you are all well out there - I'll try to post some more art soon - in fact I have been creating a lot of abstract-type celestial images, they might be worth putting up, let me know if you are interested in seeing some of them (I have created 40 so far!)

:)

Hello everybody :)

I've modified the quality of my Showreel and put it in HD on Youtube - a number of people were having trouble accessing it on the last site.

It's better with sound! :)

The music played on the showreel is by "Hybrid" - the track "Blackout" from the fantastic album "Morning Sci-fi"

Other than that I am very busy on a number of things I can't talk about (always the same!), but I hope to have time to post some new work soon.

I hope everybody is having a good day!

Hello,

I thought I would write a quick message to everybody about my paintings, specifically Speed Paintings, I get asked many questions about them and I thought the best way to attend to this is give you some idea about how I classify my work – whether it is a quick sketch thru to a full illustration.

Anyway, I would class a "Sketch" as something I create in under 15-20 minutes, I do not publish sketches, mostly as they are iterative and they also tend to be difficult to read as they are ideation phase images.  Also, I tend to do most my sketching in my AD role, which I cannot show anyway.

A "SPEED PAINTING" is something I would complete, for the most part, within 120 minutes; the timescale is important as I try to stop if I get to this point (or take the image further – which is therefore no longer a SP). When creating an SP, I might on the odd occasion use a little part of a photo or something else as a starting point to work out from (this would be less than 20% of the final image real estate).  This can be quite helpful (a bit like drawing lines all over a clean canvas) in loosening me up quickly if I do not have anything specific in mind, important when time is of the essence.  With a speed painting, I normally paint something I really want – or at least something I have a strong in my head about, for the same time based reasons, I can't be messing about thinking when I should be painting!

A "Concept" would come in at anywhere between 3-12 hours work normally.  There has been a lot more thought into the composition of a concept piece – maybe even a couple of sketches before it is started.  However, I would not normally finalise all the details in a concept, rather try to impress the details upon the viewer with roughish brush strokes.  Concept work makes up much of my paint time at work – although I only get about 25% of my time at work to paint.  My concept images are normally used as "Key pieces" to underline the final look and feel for an area or idea.  Concept images are normally about 3-4k largest dimension. "The Room, Fire Caves" etc come in this category.

A "Full Illustration" would be me working up an idea to the best of my ability and, assuming I do not tire of the image during creation (which I do a lot) the details are much more formed and the resolution is much higher (for print use for instance).  6-7k largest dimension would be the resolution I work at.  "Nimbus, Prometheus, Stormbringer" all come into this category.  I only really tend to do this for my VisionAfar site work, so not that often at the minute.

I hope this helps people understand what I am talking about when I speak of the type of image something is.

Best,
G x

Morning world :)

I like numbers when they line up - so seeing "222222" page views today was kind of cool for me to find - I thought I would update my journal.  You may be interested to know I been asked to write an illustration book, so I am not taking on any commissions currently (I am very busy!)

Other than that I am hoping to get more time to actually do some more art for me - fingers crossed I can find more time for this now I am back in a more creative role. :)

As ever, please forgive me if I take a while to reply to mails or notes - I'm quite forgetful!

Hey everybody. :)

I have 7000 people "watching" me here, which seems like a lot to me, I really need to get on with some more art then - I have some BIG plans afoot for that, while I cannot disclose anything just yet, I can assure you the are pretty big.

I'm featured again in this months ImagineFX, I've collated some important compositional elements I use into an article, check it out!

Also, if you do happen to email me on non-business related subjects, please don't get offended if I take ages to reply or do not get back to you.  I have a lot of trouble keeping up with my mail recently.

Crikey, 100000 hits. :) That's quite good I guess!

Thanks for the lovely feedback on my latest piece "Raevona", it's been ages since I've had time to paint a VA piece and it was nice to finally get one finished.  Now all I have to do is get my Website updated!

A first... A 'DA' Print.

Fri Apr 22, 2005, 8:07 AM
I feel dizzy - thud.

I still have my VA prints handled by the people at Space art, but I thought I would put one of the Non-VA image up for sale on DA, I've heard a lot about the quality of the prints here so I thought why not. :)  Unfortunately I managed to make a right mess up when I tried to post the print up for approval, in the end it took 5 days to get the dam thing online (I'm soo clever..).

Anyway, the Type 25 "Yokohama" image is now available to purchase as a print.  I'll try not to mess up next time I post one. :)

I've not had time to do any VA work recently, I've been swamped with freelance work, concept design and generally things I am not allowed to post (yet).  Which sucks frankly!

30000 pageviews - wow - there are a lot of people visiting me on DA.  Almost as many as visit the VA homepage!

So much happening at the minute that I've had little time to do any Vision Afar work, but it's been nice to read peoples messages about my art on here whenever I get chance to visit.

Golly,  a couple of people have ordered some very large canvas prints of my work recently - one of them arrived at my studio this week to be signed (which you can request).  It's a 1 meter square print of "Spirit Rising" and I was even surprised how wonderful it came out - a bit of a shock!

If you do have any requests about my prints, please channel them to the SpaceArt.org people using the link below:

Finally got back to creating some artwork over the last couple of weeks, it's been really nice to get VA creative again.  I'm going to post up a Christmas image soon too (it better be if it's going to be before the 25th!)

A lot of people have been mailing me about getting larger – bespoke sized prints of my work.  If you do not see the size you would like on the print sales site, please just fill out the form at this address:

Mission Accomplished

Wed Oct 6, 2004, 6:17 AM
Wheew… I have now managed to push my identity thief into *relative* obscurity, surpassed the sods 6000 hits and made a few new friends in the process.  I will be taking more of a back seat role with my image on DA from now on.  Everybody has been really great here, but I really need to get back to actually painting and designing.

I will pop in to keep up to date with my notes and comments etc, but I will not be posting as often as I have in the last few weeks.

Thank you everybody for your kind words and feedback.  Also, if anyone needs (or wants) information about me, there are some random paragraphs on me at VA. :)

Also, for anybody who wants them, I DO have prints available!
