so i am trying out this new thing with inking and pencil shading.

i am running low on markers so yeah ... i think that this is a turn for the best.

Pencil shading.

Thats what I do when Im running low on grays :)

haha ^^ but I try to keep the pencil separate from the markers, the graphite with cause darkening on the page in the wroung places :O

feel free to try it! although the pencil will often smudge on to the clean white of the paper, it is still an awesome way to shade and detail :)

Maybe I should stick with hard pencils first to prevent smudging, I'm pretty poor at avoiding it :P Perhaps I could do a creature fully in ink, add a bit of tone to it through pencil and then do the whole background in pencil, I have an issue with my backgrounds blending into my creatures :(

careful practice makes perfect!

and

i prefer Mechanical pencil for Character detail and then wooden pencils for larger areas.

oooh no i have not, although that would be nice to try, i seem to prefer the felt tip stuff. you can get really nice brush work done.

It'd be fun to try if you get a complete set. After some practice, varying any line width will be a synch. :D
