well, I havent uploaded anything in the past 6 months, so Id thought to try now.

my old characters are dying, its hard to be creative when the people surrounding you have no interest or motivation concerning character art.

as an artist like me, it is hell. Even then, there are those closest to me who actually HATE character art.

And that wounds me deeply in a way that I cannot bear to explain.

Their hate of my love, always lingers in the back of my mind killing my creativity and making my anxieties bloom like ocean of roses.

My gratitude to those who draw my characters is eternal.

EDIT!!!

So I got the time to refine this. I actually... like this.
I like to think that the first iteration of this image was representational of my mental state when I created it- chaotic, the second version is more refined- as now there is more order/rest in my life currently.

I take a really long time to refine my imagery. I had a piece that I simply never finished last year and only today did I refine it and finish it finally.

But I have grown wary of posting online- as opposed to my younger self, who posted everything.

One day I will post the things I do everyday, when I get my shit together and buy a decent device that can take photos and text people.

You know why most people hate character art? The average person cannot comprehend the lore that goes on in a storyteller's mind. The only thing they care about is the next big/popular thing and capitalize on it. The idea of actually enjoying stories and making them yourself just for the heck of it goes right over most people's heads.

My recommendation is to blot out these kinds of people. I understand it's difficulty (especially if you're around them all the time), but its possible. I'm at the point where I don't even tell people about my story unless if they share a common interest in character art and world-building. It's helped me in the long-run and I feel much happier when I lay the graphite on paper, not worried about what others think.

Know that I (and several others) continue to check your page on almost a daily basis for new content:)

People will always try to put their two cents into your ideas. Don't let them discourage you, what you make is yours! If you can take pride in it, then that is art, no matter what they say. You have a special unique world in your head, with all these intricate and bold characters, if they can't appreciate the time and care you take, they aren't appreciating you like they should. Teachers, family, friends all have a bias, preferences they stick to, when you like and respect someone its best to take their criticisms with a grain of salt. This is art after all, its subjective! In the end if they don't like your character designs tell them they can go draw a tree! XD

Hey dude! I can definitely resonate with you there, none of the people around me in real life are artistic so their isn't much understanding of what I do and why I like to do it. It is really hard when someone that you care about harshly judges what you want to do with your life D: The only question I have is, why are those closest to you being so rude about something that is important to you? Is it out of genuine dislike? if it is then they are really doing their best to make you feel uncomfortable for their own tastes. Is it out of jealousy? artists and non-artists alike will poke fun at what you do because deep down they know that they lack the motivation to be like you, it scares them and sometimes it means they want you to live the way they do so they can feel better about themselves.
Sometimes I think people don't realize how much they can damage your self-image by being so hateful of something you love, I've dealt with a lot of it and I've figured out that usually either consciously or unconsciously they are acting acting on insecurities within themselves.
I know that I miss seeing your work :( but I understand that these days it's hard to keep yourself from giving up. My anxieties over the past year have escalated because of this exact problem and it's been so hard to gain back motivation now that the sources are primarily gone, especially since I have no one around me that shares the same love of the arts.
Thanks for posting :D I'd like to see more art from you some time!
