So now that my Kinetic Molecular Theory animation is done, it's back to work on Galacticats!

These were quick scenes to finish because all I did was animate the ship in 3D. The most work went into painting up one more new background for one of the shots.

Nice! My favorite part is all the planets flowing past in clip 2 (an unrealistic density of planets, but hey, it's a cartoon). And I like the spinning star that appears at the very end when (presumably) the Cat Ship engages it's FTL drive.

We need a name for the Cat Ship!

I still like the idea of "GK-something"

Yea, but I thought we were liking GK-9 for the Dog Ship because it sounds like "canine".
Not sure we ever had a good idea for the Cat Ship.

I thought the dog ship was going to be "K9-"

I like the idea of the two letters/numbers, dash, and then a string of 3-4 numbers and maybe a letter. Like how my computer's model is 15-r210

Just FYI, I used the name GK6a for the name of my most recent Cat Ship drawing file, And GK16a was the latest Dog Ship drawing (the one that says "Top Secret"). One of the early Dog Ship files chanced to be named GK9, and we liked the K9 part. I'm just saying this in case it sparks some ideas.

I like your idea of the Dog Ship being K9-_ _ and then the Cat Ship can be GK_ _.
What do you think of K9-16 for the Dog Ship and GK6a for the Cat Ship. Or something like that... Whatever you want.

I'd probably go for a 4-character string after the two. I kind of like the idea of having a lowercase letter somewhere in the second half like "GK-f300" or "300f" (F for feline maybe?)

I just thought of the name "K9-531d" for the dogs' ship, in honor of my first computer... which was a piece of crap. It's was a Dell Latitude D531. And the "D" in this case of course could stand for Dog.

OOOH! I could even name the cats' ship after my favorite computer I've ever had and call it "GK-f370" (it was a Lenovo Z370, switched out the Z for F). Although the names of the ships will rarely be seen or heard. Maybe the model will be written in a few easter egg locations such as on a manual on a desk or something, or on the side of the ship when viewed close up.

Those are just some easy numbers I came up with.

After thinking about it, I do suggest you keep the names short, like 3 or 4 letters (remember R2D2 and C3PO). Something like GK3 and K9d might sound better than longer strings. Four letter strings would be OK too. It's just in case it ever becomes convenient for the script to refer to the spacecraft. Keep that option open.

Maybe the ships could have model names and nicknames? The nicknames would be what they would call them within dialogue. But then we'd be back to the drawing board for names.

In my original comics, the cats' ship was called "Starflight" but I think that name is probably trademarked for many different things. That name isn't really that appealing for a ship anyway.

Depending on the script the names of the ships might come up. For example, how many times did you hear them say "Enterprise". But that's a more pronounceable name than a series of letters and numbers. Still, I think the need may arise to call it something other than "The Dog Ship".
