My Bio

I either want to make games or write about games, and at this point it's more likely I'll be writing about games. But that's just professionally, I guess - I haven't stopped making games as a hobby, of course.

Congrats on having Netflix steal your artwork for an advertising promo.

Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut - Sonic Render

Thank you for all your art over the years. I don't know if you remember me, but I will never forget you. I've kept up with you here and there over the years so I know things have been rough. My mom just died of cancer in February, after dodging the breast cancer bullet for decades. Cancer sucks, dude, but I don't need to tell you that. Just know that you left a mark on this world. You brought beauty in to many of our lives for a long time. You deserve so much more, but don't let regrets weigh you down. You are awesome.

Project Title: OverBite

Project Description:
I'm developing an indie game called OverBite. I released it as a Game Jam game around two years ago, but I promised to make a bigger, better version to sell on Steam. In it, you play as Dracula after he's revived for one night in the modern day. Dracula's goal is to reclaim his castle after it's become a tourism hotspot and amusement park. Gameplay is a mixture of stealth and comedy, as you must drink the tourists dry to regain Dracula's abilities. The Game Jam version is currently playable at hotdoglaser.itch.io/overbite

Project Plan:
Unfortunately, any potential work on the Steam version of OverBite was upended as three months after completing the Game Jam version, I learned I was being kicked out of my childhood home of 24 years. That was a year and a half ago, and I'm finally getting settled back in to a place where I'd feel comfortable working on the game again. One thought in the back of my head that constantly bothers me is that I can't pay for anyone who collaborates with me. A friend provided me with three or four music tracks for the Game Jam version for free, but if I was going to sell this game, I'd want to pay them for their work (or any collaborator, really). But... I don't have that money. Or any money, really. And I hate the idea of being one of those "for exposure" types.

Project Budget:
I honestly don't know. If I'm just paying my friend for his work on the eventual Steam version, I'd say a minimum of $500-$1000 would undoubtedly cover that. But, obviously, it's a video game, and more money would allow me to pay extra artists (for animation if nothing else, since I'm a beginner), or level designers, or coders to port the game to other platforms (Mac, Linux, console). And then there's marketing, of which there is no budget for currently. That would easily eat up $2000+. But a minimum of $500-$1000 would at least allow me to properly pay my musician friend. The rest can be fudged.
Not just any dairy. It's gotta be special milk.
