♦Mason means to build from or strengthen with stone and front basically means "frontier" / "front line"♦

Masonfront was once a large piece of land used for agricultural purposes, bordering way-stations here and there for tired travelers to rest at. As time went by, humans realized that the land had begun to wear out. The land quality declined and the soil had started to degrade. In the case that it becomes impossible to farm on the land, there needed to be a second option. And so, along with being utilized as farmland, Masonfront began to be used for industrial purposes.

There had been a dramatic decrease in warfare over the years, leading the empire to relocate military assets out to the aging land. The local farmers agreed to this development if they could continue living there as they have. Some were fine with the changes, but for others, it presented challenges to the region's former way of life. Many citizens were upset with the way the land was being used and how the industrialization was majorly damaging natural habitat. Attempting to revive the land, locals have introduced foreign flora and fauna to the town.

The strength and wealth contributed by the empire was powerful enough to keep the oppositions and dissidents at bay for a while. Smiths, craftsman who created various tools for the town, were also introduced for development and security purposes.

At some point, Masonfront adapted the motto "facta non verba", meaning "actions speak louder than words". This motto was partly inspired by a single Annie named Caravaggio. When she had first came to the town, she settled a land use dispute between the two parties as a non-biased outsider. It is important to note that, as humans stated, her concerns on local nature are just as important as economic efficiency.

♦Temp & Climate♦

The climate of Masonfront is well-balanced, without having extreme hot or cold temperatures. Should there be drastic shifts, it'll be either shown through crop yield or the air. The moderate humidity in the region had a little influence on the populace.

♦Flora & Fauna♦

This location has kinds of Plains Coreopsis and Datura plants growing about the town. The latter was introduced by an Annie who moved there. Tropical flowers are also found within the densely forested areas and near the waterways. Another kind of flora found in Masonfront is bishop wood, wildly grown and occasionally collected for merchants to sell.
The environment is even suitable for some foreign flora. Depending on what they are, it could prove to be negative or positive to the land's ecosystem.

Slightly northwest of the continent. It is still visible from the empire/capital.

♦Special Occasions♦

Barn Dance Festival
Held every summer after harvesting, the Barn Dance is an event for residents to celebrate fruitful harvests and reflect on their work. This event lasts 3 days. To make each Barn Dance unique, the activities within the festival changes every year. It is arranged to a rest day so citizens can attend this and focus as needed on workdays.
Civil Fair Week
After significant success with town's development, the empire also added a Civil Fair Week during winter. This event is held by imperial rulers to ensure the acknowledgement of an officially recognized profession. People and businesses can set up information booths, hold demonstrations and tours, or even just attend presentations and gatherings as an individual.

♦Architecture & Buildings of Interest♦

Masonfront favors mass-living quarters that maximizes the use of living space and also encourages interaction. This common type of housing is reviewed under government regulation, and comes with a minimal space requirement. Maisonette, explained in more depth below, also has such quarters; the only difference being that jurisdiction is given to the academic or commercial establishment that rents it. The town also uses villas for their agricultural purposes. They are occupied by farmers and vary in living functions. Villas can include multiple or a few farming and residential buildings in a small area.

The buildings are styled with a mix of Edwardian and Art Deco architecture. The residents are given the option to either add to or reduce the presence of these styles as wanted, so long as it does not violate residential guidelines or become a serious concern.

Grand complexes built as a research compound for projects involving large groups of people. It is used most often for renting out to well-funded projects. The organizations that use the facility usually sign a royal agreement where the profit and/or research will be used to benefit the city. This building has been an important part of Masonfront since it was established.
Civic Center
An innovative building and the heart of the city. It is the first structure in Masonfront to be built using the crystal technology utilized by Annies and serves as a political meeting place for those from both the inside and outside of the city. The Civic Center references and was based off of the first Mayor's office built in the area.
Caravaggio's Pavilion
A private house in a noble neighborhood. It has an unique dome design instead of the decorative pillars and slanted roofs spotted in most houses' exterior. It is a funded gift by Lady Sodenhiem after Caravaggio helped set up a business for her mentor in Masonfront.

♦Government & Laws♦

Governing is put in the hands of the elected councilmen working with the empire, but the city also flexibly adapts a mix of Technocracy and Meritocracy that helps when the city is working with projects. When it comes to resource usage and allowance, the farmers' representative is always present to have the final say.

The Technocracy and Meritocracy only changes functions that apply to the city or commercial sectors, as there is a rule not to reduce the little farming resources already in place. This system is implemented in order to ensure that the working population can service the city using the skills they have. Whether it's working in a commercial area and in the Maisonette for the advancement of the town or working on farmland, the choice is completely up to the citizens.

♦Trade & Specialties♦

Masonfront's success is largely due to the research and crafting contracts made. Interested and selected parties utilize Masonfront's well-maintained facilities such as the Maisonette to performing experiments, inventing, manufacturing, and various types of production. In return, they pay royalty in the form of riches and the right to use their crafts to serve the town and the empire. In some cases, they even trade buildings out as is or in parts.

The region also sustains rich agricultural harvesting with preparation for needed times, and on the best times exports half of the harvests for profit.
