This beauty is a commission that I had the honor and pleasure of doing. It is 8x10 on grey stonehenge paper done with prismacolor colored pencils.

The fur is just drawn brilliantly, especially on top of the head and around the ruff of the neck.
I've heard the Prismacolors are soft and blend well, but is it possible to draw light shades right on top of dark ones?
Hi aflyonadifferentwall. Thanks for the compliment and to answer your question. Yes and no. I love using Prismacolors and yes they are very soft and blendable compared to some other brands, like the Faber Castell Polychromos which have a harder lead. Once I get several layers I can add a lighter color over a darker color but only minimal. They are not like pastels where you can cover a darker color completely but it is doable. On this portrait I did that a bit using a lighter color to create some highlights here and there.
