It feels good to read all these relatable comments I'm 17 which is obvioulsy a great age for having acne. Well, it used to be much worse when I was 15/16. I've used skin care products that I got prescribed by my dermatologist. It's gotten so much better since then! (it's been one year now) That's why I would always recommend seeing a professional when your acne is very bad, like mine was. But I agree with the others and their advice, drinking water as well as getting enough sleep is very important. Plus as soon as I get home, I always remove my make-up and put up my hair.
Did/ do you struggle with acne or anything related to that?
Right? I was the same as you actually; I had it worse around that age and went to see a dermatologist when the acne would not go away (I had bad chest acne and still have scarring from it). I was put on Myorisan (type of Accutane). It really did help a lot, even if I didn't stay on it to the full-term which I was supposed to. Now I still get acne, but usually I just break out when I'm close to my period.
Yeah, it usually gets worse because of the hormonal cycle which is kind of frustrating I always thought it was completely gone but then it came back unexpectedly. I was convinced that it's normal to have acne as a teen so I did not see a dermatologist. And when I finally got an appointment he told me I was very late already
When I was in high school I would get really bad acne and I still have a few acne scars, but now in my 20s I don't struggle with it nearly as much. I get whiteheads here and there but most of the stuff I get now can be easily covered up with makeup
when i was 14/15 i used to get these really bad red spots that took literally forever to disappear... like seriously, it was terrible then again i was really unhealthy back then (was severely underweight, smoked a lot, my sleep schedule was completely fucked up and i refused to drink anything that wasn't soda) when i started drinking water and sleeping better my skin cleared up and now that i barely smoke it's better than ever, like i rarely get pimples, not even on my period
TLDR: water is important and so is sleeping enough
both actually lmao i remember having bumps on my forehead and blemishes on my cheeks (the ones in my cheeks were the worst bc then they just became marks that wouldn't fucking go away orz i still remember the struggle (edit: and when i say "they took forever to disappear" i mean that even half a year later they were still there orz they started to disappear as soon as i started drinking water tho...sleeping like a normal person also helped lmao)
and ikr?? i just felt the need to mention it bc water is really awesome and helped me a ton really fast, so i always recommend it hahaha
I only get it when im close to my period. For those suffering, I used to suffer really badly from it because of overcleansing which stripped my skin of oils it needed and not drinking water. After I graduated, I threw all my facial cleansers away and just washed my face with water for months and it cleared up for the first time in YEARS. My scars faded as I spent more time in the sun too. When I started using proactive again, I broke out and had to throw it away. Now I use Japanese Biore because unlike the American version, the Japanese ones are very easy on the skin and get the job done. And then I moisturize so I dont dry out and break out more. c: Another trick that helped was putting a towel on my pillow because since I only washed my sheets like, once every two weeks, I rolled around in the oil from y hair and face and broke out. but the towel absorbs it and prevents that.
For me, I looked on Amazon and typed in "Biore marshmallow foam"and it was the second and third results being the peach and pink containers. The prices range from like $7 to maybe $11? The bottles they come in were smaller than I expected, but It only takes one pump for the face and I think I have only bought about 2 in the last 8 or nine months. They last a while, at least for me. It has a nice, light scent too. I learned about it from one of the makeup artists I watched on youtube. I also hear Etude house has some good products like Wonder Pore, but I have only gotten one product from them and sometimes they can be a bit more expensive, like 15 and up.
