Summon Through Fire

The Ouroboros is a sigil of integration of ones opposing nature. In alchemical illustrations it symbolizes the circular nature of the alchemist's Great Work. The serpent here is representing that Will and inner fire, and hints at the nature of the spell written in a variant of Coptic script. The first line reads, "Summon through fire, See through smoke." Other lines reference the Ouroboros, such as, "I am a circle unbroken."

Inspired by an alchemical drawing by Theodoros Pelecanos, dated 1478.
286 pages, counted front and back, 140 gsm paper. Measures 5.75x8.75in / 14.5x22 cm. Acrylic and india ink on acrylic painted canvas. Olive wood and Agate stone beads.
