Jynx by AnnaJ Jynx by AnnaJ
This is one of thouse pictures that gave me the "what have i done?"-feeling once i was done with it. I don't know what to say about it... i find this picture very... special...

Even if jynx may remind alot of a humanoid, they are not related to us in any aspect. A few critical diffrances that quickly can be pointed out is the missing outher ears, flat nose and no cheak. They are most likely very close relatives to Mimes, due to simular bodybuilding and face features.
Jynxes are very intellegent and are known for comunicating by using their psychic powers and sounds that humans refere to as "singing".
Jynxes has big lips, that is built up by alot of muscle tissue. This makes the lips very flexible and allow the jynxes to make very complicated sounds. It's said that the jynx intellegace heavily increased when they started to develop their language (like humans) and that they gained psychic powers long after they started to sing.
No male jynxes has ever been seen, and all breeded jynxes in captivity has other pokémon speices fathers. Some professors claims that the hitmons' are the male counter part of jynxes, and that the males evolved into fighting types to protect their young from dark-type pokémon. Other scientists laugh at this theory, completely rejecting it as nonsence.
Jynxes live in a colder climate then their physics truley allow, but they can do this becuse of their ability to create simple clothes. They usually use furr from the local swinenubs that they stich toghter using their own hair as thred. It also been noticed that jynxes tend to pass on their clothes to their childern, this was discoverd after a DNA test was made upon a jynx and the hair in the clothes she had.
As jynxes has psychic powers and no natural enemies, hey are in no need of camofluage. Their dark, purple skin is belived to be a adaptation to the cold climate, as dark colors "capture" more heat instead (energy in form of sunlight, (is photom particles a correct english word?)).
Another jynx image i got here; [link] [This picture got a slight nudeness, if such bothers you, don't look]
The reason I'm posting it is becuse you could check out the "discussion" in the comments.

This is honestly one of my most favourite realistic pokémon concepts. I love the glimpse into the Jynx culture, how they make clothes out of Swinub pelt and sew them with strands of their own hair. That gave me the idea, expanding on this concept, that the common red dresses seen on Jynx are commercially sold to Pokémon trainers, who tend to dress their Jynx in more modern clothing. The whole dark skin idea is great. Again, personally expanding in my mind, I think that the oldest Jynx would have black skin, as a reference to the original black Jynx. Not racist or colourist, the fact that it has black skin and is an ice type makes perfect sense. Looking back at the fact that the use Swinub for clothes, that makes me think that the Jynx might farm them for their meat and fur. I think that's all I have to say.
Awesome piece. Keep up the great work.

because jynx isnt a racist stereo-type pokemon (see what i did there) its based on norse mythology (probably, or she could be a gollywog doll version of queen latifah, who knows?)
great picture anyway

This is the Jynx that makes the most sense. Ever. I've imagined them as related to jotnar once before, but only the frost variety, so to me this one gains even more points for originality. Big thumbs up for you!

The fur coat idea is interesting. I believe the hitmons and jynx are different species, and both have both genders, just hitmon women, and he-jynx are shy, and avoid humans. Since the pokemon are found in cities as opposed to the wild in the games, my guess is that only some of them meet people in the game, and there are larger organizations of them off away from people.

JYNX looks like a whore lol

To tell you the truth, not all realistic pokemon have to be nature-based. I think a realistic Jynx should be a humanoid fashion model rather than a neanderthal. But the purple-skin stays.

Fashion model? Feh! That's not biology! What fun is that, now?

Jynx is probably the most racist pokemon too. :D

I like how you gave her a more human apearance. A cave-woman seems like the right to go.

IMPRESSIVE O_O That "biological" explanation was fantastic! I think your descriptions and the pics can't be separated, they complete each other very well ^_^

^__^ Very similar to how I've explained Jynx before. I love reading your discussions on the pokemon, biology and zoology are such interesting subjects. And I love the idea of the clothing made from Swinub skins. I don't know why I hadn't thought of that before! ^^ and they sing too. **smiles** This picture made my day.

I really rather like all of these you do, but this one in particular. Maybe because it's humanoid, or maybe because I've never given jynx a second thought before. I like how you stress they're not human, because they're pokemon who've evolved into a state like human but not quite in our way. It's also just a good looking piece.

Ok, I greatly thank you for this. It's come out with great vision and even greater creativity behind it. I can tell :D

*You know what's incredibly ironic? This morning, I used a Hitmonchan to breed a Smoochum :S
