The afternoon sun was beginning its slow descent when the two horseback-riding knights reached the crest of a low hill, with the forest behind them. Sir Eglamore, riding upon a mahogany horse, was the first to stop. He was a young knight, lean and athletic. He had dark brown hair, a clean-shaven face, and well-defined features. His silver armour glinted in the sunlight, with his sword kept in a fine leather sheath. Arriving alongside him on a white horse was Sir Grimbold. A few years older by comparison and more weathered, he had a stockier, heavily built frame. He had a rugged face, short dark hair beginning to grey, and a closely trimmed beard. His armour had long lost its shine, and it was scratched in several places, but looking impressive was his least concern. The two knights surveyed the land below.
