What I find truly amazing is that the blue of the water is just like the blue of the sky. Wonderful view!

beautiful shot. how high were you? 13000ft or so? right time right place. Did they cut away the cliff-side to make the port or did they build the beach?
anjules's avatar
Thank you :) And no, about 500ft I believe. The hill you see actually used to be an island. Most of the flat land out behind it was underwater. An earthquake in 1931 raised the land up about 6 metres.

lord. thats crazy. 500 ft off the waves must have been nice.

It wasn't bad - bit bumpy with a strong westerly blowing at the time :)

Hey, I flew into Napier Friday and I drove past that little (small) cruise ship tooo!!!

What a complete fluke!

Oh and I used to look after the computers @ Port of Napier (a long time ago now though)

Yeh, flew up from Christchurch with my little 19month old daughter on our way to Grandma's (and great-Grandma's) 90th in Gisborne!!!

Totally flukey eh!

I used to live in Gisborne and Napier (mum lives there now)

Awesome :) I've lived here my whole life, only just got to Gisborne last year for the first time lol.
