This painting was one that I reworked earlier this month, finishing it about 1 1/2 weeks ago ^^ It was amazing to go back and fix everything about the original painting that I wanted to. While I did share the original quite frequently on twitter, I was never satisfied with a number of details. I've since deleted many posts on twitter where I shared the original version.

After going back and revising Rathal's story and shipping him again, I took the time to rework the painting

Featured with him now is the beautiful Alaina, Snowfleet's sheikah OC. The one part of Rathal's story that remained, was Ovonre throwing him into the lake XD Alaina gets tossed in after just so that Rathal would be obviously encouraged to help her out. This reunites them, as they were sweethearts as teenagers before Rathal ran away from Kakariko. 20 years apart, Rathal never forgot Alaina and she waited patiently for him while refusing anyone else. One day she happens to meet with Ovonre, asking him to help her find Rathal. Little did she know, Ovonre already knew Rathal X'D So he tells her to meet him at the lake in some days following, meanwhile Ovonre sends Rathal on a wild goose chase to find himself lmao All the clues of a "missing person" that Ovonre wanted Rathal to help him find, were actually about Rathal himself.

After all said and done, of course Rathal and Alaina had to dry off from being in the lake, and I felt it made a lot more sense if they dressed down more. This revised painting features some of their clothing by the fire, and Alaina herself is tastefully nude

Overall I feel like I improved on the lighting and anatomy ;v;

Then there's the bonus detail of a sneaky squid in the lake. Can you spot him?
