Fly With Me

Jynzou sighed, shaking his head at Revienne's insistence to try flying with her. Nothing ever worked, so why would it work now? It's not like she could carry him with that smaller frame of hers, so he just didn't see why it would be any different. But he relented and turned around, glancing at the ocean horizon beyond his ship. If only he could fly to that horizon again. It's been more than a decade now since he lost his wings, and despite his efforts, nothing was the same if he couldn't fly high in the sky. But he said he'd entertain her for the moment, so with his prosthesis tied to his body, Jynzou took a running start and jumped off the main deck with his arms spread wide.
 
It started as any other time, with his body only gliding downward as usual, but then Revienne appeared below him and flapped her wings as hard as she could.
  
Before he realized what was happening, the updraft she gave him made him glide upward. And from there, he continued gliding further up into the sky the longer Revienne stayed under him just to give him that updraft. His eyes were filled with emotion the moment he looked over his shoulder behind him to see his ship beneath him and getting smaller with distance. Then he looked forward again, looking right at the horizon--and he relaxed. For the first time in years, Jynzou smiled with closed eyes, taking in the breeze and letting the air flow through his hair and body. His prosthetic wings took to the sky, and Revienne gave him flight.
 
When he opened his eyes again, he wore a look of joy and relief. Feeling like a rito of the skies again, smiling wider than he'd smiled for anyone in so long, Jynzou's grieved heart felt healed.

Though I haven't finished writing the whole story for Jynzou and Revienne yet, the moment when Jynzou is able to fly with her has always been at the forefront of my mind for his story from the start. I wanted this art remake, it being the 4th version of it by now (and final), to really show the emotion of the scene. When they land on his ship again, he removes his prosthesis and immediately kisses Revienne like in the above art  

For this remake I of course drew Revienne from scratch, made some adjustments to Jynzou, remade the sky and properly shaded the pair instead of leaving them as flats like in prior renditions. It truly feels like a finished piece this time, so I hope you enjoy ;v;
