Lighting Tutorial

I learned of using the lasso tool from Sean O'Daniels, check out his work here: [link]

I hope this tutorial is useful. The lasso tool and remembering to quickly put in lighting helps to keep me thinking about the broader picture rather than get caught up in details right off the bat. This method allows for the addition and subtraction of light, establishing what you want lit, what is the main focus, and etc. :)

Fantastic little tutorial I didn't think of it that way. Make a gray scale image and add colour.

Thanks! I'm not great with placing colors, values, an composition at the same time. Focusing on the value really improved the process and I struggle with pieces much less :)

You make it look so easy haha :) Was this all done on the one layer?

This one was all on one layer, but one or many layers is all okay with this method :D

What a brilliantly simple and concise tutorial. Thanks for putting this up; time to experiment.
