A cloudy Monday afternoon brought me excitement, nervousness, and anxiety as my father Guertana pulled his car outside the unfamiliar building.
“Have you brought everything with you, Mary?” he inquired, staring me down with those tired blue eyes.
I smiled brightly at him and patted my backpack. “Everything I’ll need.” I answered.
He gave me a small, sad smile. “I’ll see you when the lesson is over sweetheart. I gotta go now. My unfinished painting is calling to me.”
Taking the hint, I opened the car door and approached the building without even acknowledging the car as it pulled away.
The building was dark inside, giving the impression that it was closed, but when I tried the door, it was unlocked. For a moment, I thought I was at the wrong place.
Then the sound of other teenagers chatting away reached my ears. I sighed with relief. For some reason, I feel afraid when I’m alone, like no one will be around
The Beginning: Chapter SixChapter Six
It took them a while to get to Angel Island. They were tired from all that happened in the past few days. When they finally made it to the Master Emerald, they asked each other questions about themselves.
‘What’s your favorites color?’ Jenny wrote to Knuckles. She was sitting next to him in front of the Master Emerald. She adjusted the chain on her necklace so the shard of the Master Emerald was covering her bandage.
“I like the color red, but I also like green.” Knuckles answered, leaning back until he was looking comfortably at the sky.
Jenny wrote something more on the whiteboard and showed it to him. ‘Like your fur and the Master Emerald?’
“Yeah, I guess you could say that.” Knuckles said. Then a moment of silence passed. Knuckles looked over at Jenny, curious as to what she could be writing.
Instead of writing, she was doodling on the whiteboard. “What’re you drawing, Jenny?” Knuckles asked.

~1 1/2 hours later
On Angel Island, Knuckles sat in front of the Master Emerald as he did every day, except today he was anticipating Jenny's visit. A beeping from his cellphone caught him off guard. He was surprised to see it was Becky calling.
"Hello?" he greeted into the phone.
"Knuckles!" Becky yelled in a frantic voice, "Have you seen Jenny? Her boss called and said that she didn't come to work. Did she go to your place early or something? She's missing!"
"No, I haven't seen her at all today. Are you sure she's missing?" he answered anxiously.
"I'm positive. After her boss called, I rushed over to all the places she would go. Then I tried calling her cell phone, but she wouldn't pick up. Knuckles, I'm scared. Jenny would never act this way. What if she's lost or hurt?" the purple fox whimpered, starting to cry.
"Don't cry! I'll be over there and we'll find her, I promise. Where are you?" Knuckles tried to console the panicking fox.
"I'm outside the apartment bu

Omega and Shadow looked like they were about to attack, but Becky finally knew how to respond to his questions. "What does it matter to you whether I'm Knuckles or Becky? I'm just here to protect this thing," she pointed to the Master Emerald behind her, "Rouge tried to prevent me from doing my job."
Shadow glanced at Rouge, who was still unconscious in Omega's arms. "I don't know why it matters, but you are acting suspicious and my teammate has been beaten up. Do you expect me to just walk away without questioning?"
"Do you really want to know what happened? She basically came up to me, called me a freak, and started beating me. I didn't want a fight, but I didn't want to get hurt and watch her steal the Master Emerald. I'm telling the truth." Becky explained.
Shadow stared at her critically and looked to Omega. "What are the chances that he/she is telling the truth?"
"There is 85% chance that this is Becky and 98% chance that she is telling the truth." Omega said

After the party, Jake, Jenny, and I put the chao to bed and cleaned the apartment. It wasn't as bad as it looked, really. Our apartment is small, but it will do for now. It has a kitchen, a living room, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. Jenny and I share one of the rooms while Jake shares his with the chao.
"This was a crazy day." Jenny told me as we got ready for bed.
"Yeah, wasn't expecting an Eggman attack on your birthday." I answered as I slipped into my cot.
Jenny frowned. "That was poorly timed." she agreed.
"Mmmm-hmmm" I tried to say while fighting back a yawn. Something shiny caught my attention. "Where did you get that necklace?" I asked.
Knuckles gave it to me before he left. Do you think he would like to hang out with a girl like me?" She climbed into her own cot across from mine.
"Of course he would! He'll probably call you soon to set up the time and place." I reassured her before falling asleep.
About a week later, Knuckles still hadn't calle

People always expected the aftermath of a great war to be a time of quiet, peaceful reflection. This never happened, but it was always expected. Children who dreamed of the glory of war were disappointed to find it was over. So in the spirit of times they tried to keep that dream alive.
To control the constantly changing culture, traditional parents had announced the Prohibition, unintentionally changing what is yet to come…
The building in the town square of Mobotropolis looked innocent enough a building. It was where young Mobians went to dance and have fun. It was a way to escape their parents' traditional ideas, and it was a way to become modern.
Among the people who came to be modern and have fun were two girls. One was a tall hedgehog with red quills and emerald green eyes. The other was a purple fox with brown eyes and a blue tipped tail. Both of them had stylishly short hair and short, white dresses.
They emerged from the dance floor and walked ove
